What to Expect
We are a diverse, enthusiastic, and growing team of multi-disciplined engineers that further Tesla’s mission of accelerating the world’s transition to sustainable energy by demonstrating the functionality, performance, and durability of low voltage electronic systems (LVES) hardware. We get the opportunity to work on a variety of different development programs, and we often step outside of our normal role to support the fast-paced environment.
Your job is to collaborate with teams across Tesla to ensure these products meet our high reliability standards. Your responsibilities span across the entire development cycle – from working alongside Design Teams during initial conceptualization, to final sign-off with data driven demonstrated reliability. We are the knowledge holders of how to properly validate the products and work cross-functionally throughout the organization to ensure proper scope and timely execution are achieved.
What You’ll Do
Your job is to become a product expert, figure out how components could fail and drive changes
Design, build, and modify test fixtures and other equipment to support test execution
Work with the Design team to understand their concerns, design and execute a test to validate a failure mode
Work with the Reliability team, to perform accelerated lifetime tests and improve product reliability
Develop and maintain automation-focused test software to streamline execution, data collection and data analysis
Manage tests from setup through execution. Coordinate test resources and own validation schedules to communicate status with program managers
Collaborate with test technicians to perform component validation
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Mechatronics/Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
Excellent mechanical and electrical first principles skills, experience with coding. Demonstrated interdisciplinary skill is a plus
Familiarity with coding, preferably in Python, for interacting with hardware and test automation
Experience working with different sensors like temperature, humidity, pressure, touch etc. Knowledge of how they work, and how to interact with them
Experience with lab and test equipment (power supplies, electronic loads, o-scopes, DMM’s, lathe, mill etc.), ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
Bonus: Design or modelling experience with CAD software like CATIA/Solidworks
Bonus: Experience with automotive communication protocols such as CAN or LIN Bus
Eagerness to be hands-on, understand how to interact with a system and automate repeatable tasks. Dive for efficiency and hate seeing someone spend time on something that a script, fixture or a robotic system could do better
