What to ExpectDue to recent growth Tesla’s Gigafactory New York is currently seeking a Technical Program Manager assigned to support cross-functional Engineering teams and site-wide initiatives. This role will manage projects for Controls, Test, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering teams. Tesla is a fast-paced environment, so being self‐motivated and consistent is critical. Managing the schedules, budget, and resources of projects at Tesla requires an individual who is passionate about our mission, has a bias for action, and is focused on collaborative solutions. Our program schedules require the Project Manager to understand the dependencies and challenges of each project and how the priority of each project compares to the next. Project Managers are also expected to translate technical status coming from multiple sources into a concise and complete message that is appropriately communicated to the team members and the project stakeholders.What You’ll Do This role is part of the Engineering team at GigaNY and will support the team by managing program delivery on continuous improvement and capital projects Collaborate with program, design, safety, quality, IE, facilities, materials, planning, NPI, tech writing, operations, sustaining, and maintenance to ensure alignment and timely completion of actions to achieve success Support success of Manufacturing Engineering team by taking workload stemming from organization and collaboration from engineering resources to free up their bandwidth for engineering tasks Lead daily standups on goals and risks during equipment installation and commissioning to motivate team and maximize rate of progress Ability to forecast risks to cost, scope and time and gather the right resources to mitigate them Establish a project structure and track actions, due dates, and assignees, and diligently keep track to ensure timely completion Establish critical path and escalate issues which gate progress appropriately as they ariseDisplay a positive attitude and practice strong work ethic that reflects the mission, philosophy and goals of Tesla. Be open to feedback and demonstrate drive to learn and continuously improveDemonstrate experience with data analysis and standard project management data visualization tools Ensure quality, safety, and documentation are prioritized during all aspects of the project environment, health, and safety are taken into account in all activities and manufacturing validations What You’ll Bring Degree in Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience Engineering internship experience Can communicate with technical and non-technical (management) teams effectively Able to prioritize effectively and stay organized under pressure Excellent written and verbal communication skills required Strong bias for action Interest in adding or improving processes where appropriate Experience in Production/Manufacturing environment, capital equipment, and new product introduction is preferred Ability to adapt to changes quickly Ability to be effective as a matrix manager
