Our team is mainly focused on development, selection and validation of cell materials, design, process, and manufacturing hardware by building prototype cells at a variety of form factors and scales. Your responsibility will be spearheading interdisciplinary team efforts, leading and innovating cell prototyping processes to accelerate development of Tesla cell technology.
What You’ll Do
Own and account for one or more cell manufacturing processes
Lead a team of process Engineers and Technicians to manage daily activities and provide technical guidance on prototype or pilot lines
Improve process capabilities through design of experiments, critical data analysis, and in-depth understanding of interplay between cell process and performance metrics
Establish and standardize baseline process conditions
Identify and quantify process risks, reliability, and trends relating to quality and efficiency
Develop and optimize process conditions for new recipes, designs, and materials
Work with equipment development team to identify needs and define specifications for process innovation
Manage workload with a positive attitude as a team player in a collaborative work environment
What You’ll Bring
Degree in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent experience
5+ years of experience in lithium-ion battery design, development, prototyping, or manufacturing
Extensive experience and knowledge of Li ion battery chemistry, electrochemistry, cell design, and manufacturing processes
Familiarity with data collection, statistical process control, process capability analysis, process failure mode effects analysis and quality management
Familiarity with analytical software and programming languages (e.g. JMP, Minitab, MATLAB, Python etc.)
Ability to develop data driven root cause analyses and solutions
Strong problem-solving skills and an aptitude for learning systems quickly
Strong written, verbal, presentation, and organizational skills as well as the ability to work and manage time independently
Passion for making fantastic new products and using data to achieve outstanding quality, reliability, and production excellence
