What to Expect
Tesla is seeking an experienced individual to manage regulatory information requests and investigations globally. Desired candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining a database or tool for logging and monitoring status of all regulatory investigations and requests for information from regulators across the globe including but not limited to NHTSA (US), DPAC (China), TC (Canada), RDW (Netherlands), KBA (Germany), DVSA (United Kingdom), VSCC (Taiwan), and MLIT (Japan). Candidate will coordinate with designated teams for each investigation or information request to monitor and report status on completion of tasks to meet submission deadline. Candidate will be responsible for reporting status on all pending investigations and information requests. Responsibility will also include coordinating the compilation of affected VIN lists and subsequent field data, as well as drafting response communication for leadership and legal review.
What You’ll Do
Receive and log all regulatory requests for information and investigations
Develop an appropriate tool or database for tracking status of pending information requests and investigations
Report progress on completion of tasks to meet submission deadlines
Escalate items inhibiting the completion of tasks and putting submission at risk to direct supervisor
Work directly with Engineering, Service, Production, Quality, Data Analysis and Legal to support coordination and completion of tasks to meet submission deadlines
Work directly with Data Analysis team to determine proper query and data extraction when determining affected VIN lists and fleet data sets
Participate as a member of respective teams in contributing to investigations and completion of tasks with assigned owners and subject matter experts
Review information collection to assure accurate and complete information for responsive submission
Identify and create standardized processes to improve efficiency and quality of regulatory responses
What You’ll Bring
Degree or equivalent experience
5-10 years of experience in engineering and manufacturing environment
Experience with Code of Federal Regulations and Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards
Ability to exercise business and financial judgment with strong problem-solving, research, and project management skills
Preferably, having an engineering or technical background, and/or significant transportation or vehicle experience
General understanding of Tesla vehicle systems (HV Battery, Drive Unit, Chassis, LV Hardware, Firmware, Safety and Restraints, Auto-Pilot)
Strong people skills and positive “can do” attitude
Self-starter, motivated, eager to learn and guided by a strong moral compass
