What to Expect
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Supply Chain Manager to support our development teams and manufacturing partners in the sourcing of vehicle glass, coating materials, and trim components for Tesla Vehicle Programs. These could also include specific parts related to automobiles (MS, MX, M3, MY, Cybertruck, Semi-Truck, and/or future programs) and to the successful running of the organization. This role will report to our Supply Chain Manager and in parallel be an active sourcing resource supporting our various Engineering groups within Tesla.
What You’ll Do
Drive alignment of Sustaining Program and New Product Introduction strategy and successful execution for all regions; responsible for continuous improvement in cost, capacity planning, localization and new technology launch
Owner of Program RFQ’s – ensuring all commercial terms are agreed and documented. Ensures Non-Disclosure Agreements, General Terms & Conditions, Piece Price Agreements, and other related contracts are negotiated and appropriately completed before business is initiated
Drive piece price and tooling negotiation process to ensure that Tesla’s commodity pricing meet Best-In-Class expectations, while meeting Supplier Industrialization standards of Best-In-Class quality, in addition to driving continual cost reduction and avoidance initiatives through ad-hoc price negotiations
Monitor global industry trends, track technology roadmaps, market conditions, and category business plans for New Product and Technology Introduction
Ability to understand technical drawings, specifications, manufacturing process controls, quality assurance, and participate in part design reviews
Comfortable communicating with technical stakeholders and executive leadership both internally and externally on key supply and/or quality issues. Ability to develop corrective action plans to mitigate identified risks
Lead cross-functional teams to manage project timelines including developing and maintaining action trackers, Gantt charts, and other program management tools related to on-time delivery of supplier parts against Program timing
What You’ll Bring
Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Chemical Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management or equivalent experience
5+ years of experience in strategic procurement, supply chain management, commodity management associated to automotive core commodities, autonomous driving capabilities, or other highly technical materials
Experience with mechanical, electrical and/or chemical engineering concepts related to the commodity. Ability to generate bottom-up should costs based on the understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes. Experience with New Product development cycles and product launches preferred
Proficient knowledge of technical requirements and design of the product and be able to influence cross functional partners with detailed analysis that supports optimized pricing and product sourcing decisions
Excellent negotiation, dispute resolution, and team-work capabilities, as well as effective communication skills applicable for presentations to executive leadership during sourcing process
Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, both domestic and internationally
