You will be responsible for driving innovation and first principles mindset, driving projects to completion and supporting Infrastructure Development for Sales, Service, Delivery, Collision, and Warehousing projects across North America. What You’ll Do

Develop & create standard basis of design for Mechanical infrastructure scope of work. Advocate and educate AHJ’s on Tesla’s behalf. Work with local utility companies to support upgrades where necessary. Engage as a technical expert with the larger infrastructure team – Real Estate, Design, and Construction

Drive prototype design and standardization of electrical and mechanical equipment to expand and expedite roll out program. Ability to manage 3rd party engineering consultants and self-perform design paths. Develop process improvements / workflows / templates to increase design productivity and quality of deliverables with outsourced Mechanical Engineers. Support review of construction documents, driving consistency of standards, challenging assumptions and driving best practices for design

Manage and train 3rd party electrical consultants in design of electrical and mechanical systems and manage best design practices to maintain cost and time efficiency. Responsible for designing and drafting mechanical engineering deliverables as Engineer of Record and with respect to code compliance, and ensuring every design maintains the highest level of quality 

Ultimate system owner for a wide range of mechanical systems including but not limited to: HVAC, heat exchangers, heaters, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, dust collectors exhaust, cooling towers, fans/pumps, plumbing, etc for all development types

Develop conceptual designs and identify technical and financial risks. Suggest alternative solutions which mitigates risks is imperative. Develop and improve project workflows and standards to ensure each design is consistently excellent. Participate in on-field construction and commissioning activities by serving as the point of contact for technical questions and real-time issue resolution. Interface and collaborate with engineers from multiple disciplines

Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work in an extremely fast-paced environment. Ability to interface with multiple engineering disciplines. Ability to train and mentor designers to expand their mechanical knowledge

What You’ll Bring

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or the equivalent in experience

5+ years of work experience in HVAC and Plumbing design. A combination of experience with an owner operator and Design/Consultancy firm is highly desired 

Expert ability to work with utility companies, managing and designing utility upgrades. Experience with Design of Industrial type of Facilities and Data Centers is a plus. Expert knowledge of REVIT MEP and proficiency with AutoCAD

Licensed Engineer in CA, TX, NV, FL, and/or NY. Well versed in International Mechanical Code

Availability to travel as necessary
