What to Expect

Tesla is looking for an individual experienced with training personnel on manufacturing best practices to contribute to the Cell Manufacturing team at Gigafactory Texas. As a Technical Training Instructor, you will build a world-class manufacturing training program from the ground up. You will leverage your experience in production operations, adult learning principles, and process optimization to support operational excellence.

The Technical Training Instructor will take responsibility for developing courses (technical knowledge focusing on electrical and mechanical systems, robotics, electronics, computer, control systems, and product engineering) and mentoring Training Specialists, while promoting an atmosphere of continuous improvement. A strong sense of ownership and accountability is expected. 

Instructors will provide support to students and fellow staff members, work in a lab setting providing hands-on instruction with safety in mind, keep accurate records of student achievement, and an ability to maintain discipline in a classroom setting. In this role, you will work within the Quality Systems organization providing leadership to the Training team as well as supporting the development of the Production team.

What You’ll Do
Develop basic and advanced technical content on a wide variety of material for electrical and mechanical systems
Deliver technical training courses in classroom and field settings using a variety of presentation formats including Instructor Led, Facilitative group learning, active hands-on learning, and functional assessments and provide evaluation of courses with written and hands-on assessments
Provide comprehensive tracking of each Student’s completed and required training in Tesla specific Learning Management software system
Review and update department program documentation and production Manufacturing Instructions, as assigned.
Determine appropriate training method for Manufacturing Instructions updates.

What You’ll Bring
5+ years of production operations experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment and 3+ years of experience in a training role.
Innovative, flexible, and positive teaching style combined with understanding the needs of students from diverse backgrounds
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Exceptional ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of Technicians, Engineers, and Managers
Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Proficient in MS Office software (Word, Excel, Power Point)
