Tesla is seeking a seasoned highly motivated Engineering Technicians to help develop Tesla’s future in Energy Products and associated systems while continuously improving our existing products. Our Reliability Engineering Technicians work side by side with our Engineers to validate our world class facility systems for functionality and reliability. This work requires you to be extremely detail oriented, hold your work to the highest quality standards, and have the engineering drive to perpetually innovate. Our team’s passion drives us to succeed, you must be self-motivated, eager for change, and thrive in ambiguity. Testing requires collaboration with many engineering teams, reliability, design, integration etc. A team player mentality and exceptional communication is essential.

This role combines engineering fundamentals and processes with a scientific approach to collecting data and analysis.

What You’ll Do
Instrument and test engineering prototypes, including data acquisition and processing

Design and construct new test equipment and improve existing fixtures

Maintain high standard of safety and organization on our site

Collaborate with engineering teams to identify and resolve mechanical & electrical issues

Integrating systems including AC/DC high and low voltages, structural components, coolant, and scripting

Provide careful, detail-oriented documentation during tests, and inspections

Communicate technical questions and findings in a concise and descriptive manner

Diagnose and troubleshoot test setup errors and failures

What You’ll Bring
Preferred: Associate degree, with extensive practical experience as an Mechanical or Electronics Engineering Technician an acceptable alternative

Preferred: Valid High Voltage training certificate from an OEM or demonstrated working knowledge of battery powered systems

Preferred: facilities systems experience – chillers, boilers, cooling towers, CDA, ICW, PCW, heat recovery, high / low voltage, pumps, heat exchangers, etc.

Mechanical fabrication skills, machine shop experience, expert with hand and power tools as well as demonstrate mechanical aptitude – Practice disassembly and reassembly of electromechanical systems without instructions
Strong understanding of physics and engineering fundamentals as well as methodical and diligent, works with a strong sense of quality and craft
Creative approach to problem solving, willingness to learn and try new things as well as self-directing, able to work across the entire organization to collect parts and information to execute job responsibilities
Excellent documentation and written communication; proficient using Microsoft Office, Excel
