What to Expect
Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Engineer to develop new processes and automation equipment with the actuator Design team in Palo Alto, CA. The Manufacturing Engineer will optimize designs for manufacturability, streamline assembly processes, and implement automation solutions for gearing, motors, electrical components and harnesses of both linear and rotary actuators. The Manufacturing Engineer thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of AI robotics.
What You’ll Do
Collaborate with hardware engineering and production teams to take actuator design through prototype development and into volume production
Provide design for manufacturing feedback to simplify designs for highest production efficiency and scalability
Develop adaptable pilot assembly processes to support product design iteration and variable quality of incoming material
Develop flexible machine concepts for high-volume production minimizing complexity and cost while maximizing number of supported product variants
Generate machine specifications, process documentation and manufacturing instructions
Identify and resolve a diverse range of equipment mechanical, electrical, controls and software issues in production
What You’ll Bring
Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Catia, and AutoCAD preferred)
Proficiency in mechanical assembly methods, electrical integration, testing and troubleshooting
Strong hands-on experience with pilot and high-volume manufacturing, and the transition between
Proven track record of data-driven methodology to solve multi-faceted problems
Ability to remain highly productive and organized while managing competing priorities and tight deadlines
Degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent experience
