What to Expect

Tesla’s Supplier Industrialization TLA team is responsible for developing and qualifying critical components and electronic parts with design and sourcing teams, as well as top level assembly processes with suppliers. The team provides end-to-end product lifecycle management, from early design quality assessment to industrialization and quality control activities. This TLA SIE (Camera and Lens) position requires strong communication skills, international travel, and critical decision-making.

What You’ll Do
DFM: Conduct and implement Design for Manufacturing (DFM) feedback into camera and Lens Module design, as well as other critical components like cover glass and nozzle
Supplier Development and Improvement: development and Lead supplier improvements in scalability, cost, and quality
Technical Communication: Facilitate clear communication of technical requirements between suppliers, purchasing, quality, and design teams
Collaboration: Work with design, quality, testing, reliability, and manufacturing teams to define performance specifications and supplier metrics
Assembly Process DFM and DFA: Guide suppliers to establish efficient production systems and robust assembly processes that consistently meet our high-quality standards
Supplier management: manage supplier and conduct audits to ensure suppliers meet part performance, delivery, and reliability expectations. Accountable for leading, tracking and improving supplier manufacturing process development and launch readiness for new products and design changes
Validate Camera and Lens Module supplier corrective actions involving design and/or process changes to ensure they are robust, sustainable, and implemented for similar potential concerns across manufacturing lines and/or suppliers
Provide input on new or alternative materials for improved design, manufacturability, or cost reduction
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience in in Optical, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering or evidence of experience and exceptional ability. Minimum 5 years’ experience in camera and lens module manufacturing, supply chain or mechanical engineering
Experience with camera and lens assembly processes, including molding, coating, curing active alignment processes and EOL testing, lens design, and production line design
Camera Lens module Supplier development and management experience
Practical experience of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design For Assembly (DFA)
Practical 6sigma experience. DFSS experience is desired
Solid knowledge of statistical analysis tools and applications (JMP/Minitab)
Opto-Mechanical background with statistical tolerance analysis, design quality assessment, and improvement technique
Proficient in GD&T, 3D CAD software
Hands on and ready to work in a fast-paced environment
Domestic and international travel (expected 30% of the time) is required to engage with CMs, sometimes on short notice
