Gigafactory Texas is looking for a Sr. Facilities Electrical Engineer to support Vehicle and Cell manufacturing. Come and join us to help accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy.

What You’ll Do
Provide engineering support for the design, operation, improvement, and troubleshooting of all facility electrical components and systems, including load flow analysis, equipment evaluation, grounding systems, substations, and power system studies
Coordinate downtime activities between maintenance, construction, and manufacturing teams to minimize disruptions
Drive electrical distribution improvement and resiliency projects with system risk analysis techniques, power monitoring data, and other advanced detection methods
Troubleshoot power quality and electrical system problems, conduct breaker coordination, arc flash studies, and track electrical load and capacity planning. Including Protective Relays, Sequence of operations and SCADA
Critical Sparing strategy. Driving procurement needs for equipment maintenance and temporary power solutions
Utilizing CMMS system for reactive and preventative maintenance scheduling. Systemizing of electrical system assets
Collaborate within interdisciplinary engineering teams to design, optimize, and maintain electrical systems
Provide electrical engineering support and training to facility technicians to troubleshoot, operate and maintain existing electrical equipment and controllers
Oversee equipment installation, operation, and maintenance to meet Tesla specified parameters
Coordinate and understand needs of system customers including Central Utilities systems, Supercharging, Megapack, Solar, Manufacturing and IT
What You’ll Bring
Degree in Electrical Engineering or the equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability
8-10 years of direct operational facilities (semiconductor, solar, battery, etc.) experience building high-tech infrastructure
Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work in an extremely fast-paced environment
Ability to interface with multiple engineering disciplines
Medium Voltage equipment including – operating/maintaining the equipment, trouble shooting and programming /adjusting medium voltage relays
Advanced knowledge and experience in Electric utility substation and distribution power system engineering, maintenance, and operations; electric utility distribution system switchgear; ability to read and understand design intent of electric utility system drawings (one-lines, three-lines, schematics, etc.)
Well versed and significant experience in electric utility system safe work practices in accordance with the OSHA, HAZMAT safety protocols and other applicable codes and standards (IEEE C37, C57, etc.); National Electrical Code, NFPA 70E, and IEEE 1584
Advanced Knowledge of NEC NFPA 70, NFPA 70B, NETA-ATS, NETA-MTS and electrical OEM recommendations
