What to Expect
Tesla is seeking a skilled Controls Technician with a focus on controls and low voltage systems for our EPC project team. This role is to expedited construction and utility systems that support manufacturing tools. Work closely with system experts to install building automation system instrumentation and controls in a state-of-the-art 24-hr manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate has technical knowledge in Electrical, mechanical, chemical and gas systems with strong instrumentation and controls experience.
What You’ll Do
Proficiency in reading P&IDs and technical specifications is key
Install, and maintain panel integration, including PLCs, VFDs, RIOs
Install control and measurement instruments on existing or new plant equipment and troubleshoot process control systems (control valves, flow meters, temperature sensors, pressure sensors, actuators, leak switches)
Work with low voltage systems such as building automation, security, and data communication networks
Interpret and use electrical schematics, control diagrams and P&IDs for installation and troubleshooting HVAC equipment, Process skids, and MFG equipment
Preform Preliminary Commissioning activities including but not limited to loop checks, device configurations, OATs, Motor IDs, and network configuration
Supporting controls group in troubleshooting, upgrading and new installation of systems by consulting manuals, reading, and interpreting circuit diagrams, blueprints, and schematics
What You’ll Bring
5+ years of experience as a journeyman Controls Technician specializing in low voltage and controls
Technical Degree or Trade School in Instrumentation preferred
Experience on Life Safety Systems (HAZMAT)
Strong understanding in comprehending wiring diagrams, loop drawings, and P&ID drawings
Strong knowledge in motor controls, drives, and electronic components
Working knowledge of low voltage electrical systems from 24VDC to 480VAC
Working knowledge of networking and telecommunication wiring
