What to Expect

Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Engineer to develop new processes and high-volume automation equipment with the High Voltage Distribution team in Palo Alto, CA. The Manufacturing Engineer will optimize designs for manufacturability, streamline production processes, develop automation solutions for assembly, bending, welding, fastening, and test, and support production transition from low to high volume. The manufacturing engineer thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of vehicle manufacturing.

What You’ll Do
Collaborate with design engineering and production teams through pilot development and into high-volume production
Provide design for manufacturing feedback to simplify designs for highest production efficiency and scalability
Develop adaptable and robust pilot manufacturing processes to accommodate product design iteration and variable quality of incoming material
Develop flexible machine concepts for high-volume production minimizing complexity, lead-time, and cost while maximizing line efficiency and variant mix
Generate machine specifications, process documentation, manufacturing instructions, and validation plans
Identify and resolve a diverse range of equipment mechanical, electrical, controls and software issues in production
What You’ll Bring
Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Catia, and AutoCAD preferred)
Proficiency in mechanical assembly methods, testing, and troubleshooting
Strong hands-on experience with pilot and high-volume production
Proven track record of data-driven methodology to solve multi-faceted problems
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent experience
