What to Expect

Working within the Tesla Materials Engineering group, the individual will be responsible for the management of manufacturing programs for the Castings team, from conceptual phase throughout execution and validation involving high pressure die casting, melt centers and trimming and deburring lines. The individual will be coordinating tasks across the Manufacturing Engineering team and work closely with other departments and vendors. The role requires a highly organized mindset and motivation that can be transferred to the team, experience launching new technology and being able to work in extremely fast paced environment.

What You’ll Do
Manage manufacturing CAPEX programs involving die casting production lines, melt centers and trimming lines, ensuring all activities have cross-functional alignment and visibility, and working closely with logistics, procurement, design, construction, and production to drive these programs to a targeted, on-time completion
Manage all events associated with development and validation programs, including scrum meetings, sprint planning, and cross-functional reviews and financial reports to senior leadership
Develop budget tracking tools and lead project cost reduction
Accountable for leading and developing entire CAPEX programs from scratch, conceptual design, investment justification, lines design, fabrication, shipping, install, commissioning, and handover
Manage program timelines and detailed equipment development schedules
Accountable for team organization and standardization developing manufacturing equipment as well as ensuring documentation for equipment handover to the Operations team
Work alongside Controls and Manufacturing Engineers for hydraulic, mechanical, electrical and controls troubleshooting on new equipment
What You’ll Bring
Degree in Materials Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
Fundamental knowledge of high pressure die casting, gas and electric furnaces and die casting related processes is preferred
4+ years’ experience in automotive or other consumer product manufacturing fields preferred
Experience with large scale program management, supplier engagement, and cross-functional engineering collaboration
Database and program management tool experience preferred
Bias for action, strong leadership and communication skills, and resource management ability are critical
Strong understanding of Lean manufacturing
Experience developing capital equipment programs from scratch
