What to Expect
As an Electrical Construction Project Manager, you will play a critical role in managing and executing construction projects from start to finish. You will work closely with the Design team, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure successful completion of projects on time, within budget, and according to specifications. Your technical expertise, organizational skills, and ability to effectively communicate will be key in coordinating and facilitating various aspects of the construction process.
What You’ll Do
Oversee construction for electrical projects, through all phases of construction, with overall responsibility for electrical systems and energization
Track site execution and inspections to ensure work is performed according to safety guidelines and quality standards. Ensure adherence of contractor’s Quality Control standards and support internal Quality Assurance/Commissioning for turnover of electrical systems
Expedite solutions to design clashes while coordinating with design team for best path forward. Must be able to field verify existing conditions against Contract Documents and bring up, or address, foreseeable issues
Monitor project costs and expenses, comparing actuals against the budget while also Identifying cost-saving opportunities and suggest value engineering alternatives. Experience in reviewing, generating, and submitting RFI’s and Submittals
Track and review contractor invoices. Create, manage, update, and enforce overall project schedule based off project documents. Compare and track baseline from actual and report variances. Familiarity with Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project
Responsible for project buy-out including developing bid packages, working with Procurement to issue RFP’s, writing contracts and Scopes of Work, and issuing Work Orders. Conduct weekly review progress meetings with project teams to identify scope gaps, risks, project goals, and recovery plans
Must be experienced in reading, interpreting, and implementing Contract Documents and Specifications. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, local authorities, industry standards, and codes. Be able to communicate and coordinate with all project stakeholders from contractors, Design/Engineering, and QA/Commissioning teams
What You’ll Bring
Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
7+ years experience in commercial construction, project management, or engineering
Experience managing projects in large manufacturing plants, industrial environments, or similar
Strong knowledge of electrical construction practices, codes, regulations, and safety protocols
Ability to problem solve, multitask, and prioritize project objectives
Project will require long hours, looking for ambitious and tenacious team members
Experience in large scale EPCI projects and professional engineering (PE) license is a plus
