The pay range is $144,400.00 – $311,900.00

Principal Engineers at Target are deeply technical and capable individual contributors who serve as subject matter experts and solve arbitrarily complex problems, sharing and implementing solutions across the enterprise. We leverage a high level of collaboration between teams as we drive improvement across all of Target Tech. In this new role, as a GenAI Security Test Architect you will design testing of GenAI solutions at Target. Target’s security focus is not limited to reputational harms like jailbreaking a language model to say something offensive, and this role will primarily focus on how Threat Actors could negatively impact confidentiality, integrity, or availability of information in a way that harms Target and/or our Guests.
As a GenAI Security Test Architect you’ll work with technical and leadership teams across all of Target Tech.
You Can Expect To:
Throughout the role, more than merely identifying flaws or attending meetings for their own sake, you’ll prioritize driving implementable changes that improve the business.
Design test approaches to GenAI products in order toidentify security flaws (particularly flaws that impact confidentiality, integrity, or availability of information, and/or that could facilitate an intrusion or breach), and execute test suites.
Conduct full-stack architecture review of software for GenAI products and platforms.
Be a subject matter expert on information security for GenAI systems and applications in cloud/vendor and on-prem environments.
Proficiently discuss AI/ML with our data science and ML teams as we identify and develop solutions for security issues.
Design security reference architectures and implementing/configuring security controls with an emphasis on GenAI technologies.
Efficiently assess and communicate risk accurately while negotiating priorities with cross-domain stakeholders.
Collaborate with engineering teams to perform advanced security analysis on complex GenAI systems, identifying gaps while contributing to design solutions and security requirements.
About You
4-year degree OR equivalent work experience
Polyglot programmer comfortable in many languages across different platforms
10+ years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity
Demonstrated curiosity and ability to learn
Proficiency with AI/ML concepts and technologies.
Demonstrated ability (expertise preferred) in attacking GenAI products and platforms.
Seeks out cross-team collaboration opportunities.
Stays current on relevant AI and Cyber Engineering technologies with self-directed learning.
Excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills with strong presentation abilities.
Good understanding of security management workflows in large enterprise organizations and complex environments.
Has a good understanding of the current threat landscape and the challenges that most organizations are facing.
This position may be considered for a Remote or Hybrid (known internally at Target as “Flex for Your Day”) work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that’s not a Target location, does not have a desk at a Target location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role may be performed either remote or onsite at a Target location depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day. Work duties cannot be performed outside of the country of the primary work location, unless otherwise prescribed by Target.
