A role in Planning means overseeing the financials and forecasting for Target’s businesses. Here, you’ll conduct comparative analysis of holiday or other seasonal performance and provide the insights that inform the Inventory team’s work to ensure that product supports projected sales. Acting as the hub between Merchandising and Supply Chain, you will create a financial link between these two essential groups and have a voice in some of the most important decisions from a financial strategy standpoint. In this role, you will be the primary Principal in leading the coordination of the transformation of both our financial metrics and business management/investment/demand management processes and their translation into our assortment forecasts and financial forecasts for the Planning Organization.
As a Director Planning leading our Division Support function, you own processes that deliver informed forward looking perspective and recommendations for planning and senior enterprise leadership on critical business decisions, including our seasonal forecasts, channel forecasts, and investment plans. You connect planning across the enterprise and develop a consolidated view of the financial and assortment forecasts put forward by business teams, and drive go-forward decision making. You will manage division and pyramid forecasting and operational routines that thoughtfully sequence work ensuring that operating norms, calendars, tools, and training are in place to support planning teams.
You will translate high level direction and cycle strategy for assortment forecast creation, and manage the roll up and reconciliation of demand and financials driving integration with GIM, S&OP and other enterprise partners. You will lead with insights and analytics, partnering closely with insights teams to improve availability and consistency of information, and cultivate an environment where the planning teams translate insights into recommendations.
You will develop and accelerate planning talent, creating a pipeline for the organization providing hands-on coaching and development opportunities to leads and planners. You will ensure a common understanding of goals, objectives and outcomes across a diverse and vast set of stakeholder groups as well as Sr. Leadership.
This role requires a leader who is curious, has excellent collaboration and communication skills, is willing to take risks, is a critical thinker with a continuous improvement mindset, has a strong analytical skillset and experience working with roundtable business leaders, as well as working across and integrating data, partner team inputs, and macro insights to drive recommendations and action.

About you:
Four-year degree or equivalent experience
10+ years of relevant experience
6+ years of previous broad Merchandising experience
Outstanding financial acumen, with deep knowledge of the nuances of retail accounting
Knowledge of financial and merchandise planning systems and processes
Knowledge of supply chain planning (allocation, replenishment and operations)
Excellent understanding of mass merchandising, retail, e-commerce and multi-channel retailing
Ability to manage an internal CFT to align resources and tactics against strategic business goals
Comfortable taking risks, working through change and supporting creativity
Entrepreneurial spirit with strong analytical, decision-making, and organization skills
Strong communication, collaboration, facilitation, and story telling abilities
Flexibility, resiliency and nimbleness; comfortable working in “grey areas” that are constantly changing
