What you’ll do…
The Walmart EBS-Fintech team is looking for an experienced Manager of Data Stewardship to own and drive processes for the development and configuration of technology to support solid governance and stewardship of Walmart financial data.
This individual contributor role requires solid understanding of financial processes and workflows, and solid data governance and stewardship best practices, especially in the retail / ecommerce finance domain.
This role will collaborate with different stakeholders, including software engineering, product management, and Finance dept. team members.
Tech. Problem Formulation
Requires knowledge of: Analytics/big data analytics / automation techniques and methods; Business understanding; Precedence and use cases; Business requirements and insights
To Identify possible options to address the data management problems within finance/ master data area through relevant analytical methodologies. Demonstrates an understanding of use cases and desired outcomes.
Understanding Business Context
Requires knowledge of: Industry and environmental factors; Common business vernacular; Business practices across product, finance, and technology and in-depth knowledge of related practices; Directly relevant business metrics and business areas
To Support the development of business cases and recommendations. Drives the delivery of project activity and tasks assigned by others. Supports creation of new processes, process updates and changes. Supports, under guidance, the research and resolution of business issues.
Data Source Identification
Requires knowledge of: master data, categories of master data, attributes of master data , SAP and Oracle master data systems, master data creation, dissipation and dissolution processes, familiarity with google cloud and azure cloud processes and where it is held; Business data requirements; Database technologies and distributed datastores (e.g. SQL, NoSQL); Data Quality; Existing business systems and processes, including the key drivers and measures of success
To Understand the appropriate data set required to develop simple models by developing initial drafts. Supports the identification of the most suitable sources of data. Maintains awareness of data quality.
Data Quality Management
Requires knowledge of: Data quality management techniques and standards; master data and business metadata definitions and content data definitions; Data profiling tools, data cleansing tools, data integration tools, and issues and event management tools; Understanding of user’s data consumption, data needs, and business implications; Data modeling, storage, integration, and warehousing; Data quality framework and metrics; User access best practices; Enterprise data architecture, modeling and design, storage, integration, and warehousing; Enterprise data quality framework and metrics; Enterprise data strategy; Enterprise data quality strategy; Enterprise strategy to address regulatory and ethical requirements and policies around data privacy, security, storage, retention, and documentation
To Promote and educate team members on data quality awareness. Profiles, analyzes, and assesses data quality. Tests and validates data quality requirements. Continuously measures and monitors data quality. Delivers against data quality service level agreements. Manages operational Data Quality Management procedures. Manages data quality issues and leads data cleansing activities to remove data quality defects, improve data quality, and eliminate unused data. Determines user accessibility and removes or restricts user access as needed. Interprets company and regulatory policies on data. Educates team members on data governance processes, practices, policies, and guidelines. Supports automated recons by understanding detailed logic and CCM (Continuous Control Monitoring) to ensure quality and controls.
Master Data and Metadata Management
Requires knowledge of: Understanding of user’s data consumption, data needs, and business implications; Data modeling, storage, integration, warehousing, and relational databases; Data value chains (for example, identification, ingestion, processing, storage, analysis, and utilization); Master data, golden records, data hierarchies, and connections to transactional data; Business, technical, process, and operational metadata architecture, standards, definitions, and repositories; Regulatory and ethical requirements and policies around data privacy, security, storage, retention, and documentation; Master data management applications, database management systems, data and process modeling tools, relational database tools, data profiling tools, and data integration tools;
To understand business domain master integration and metadata requirements. Implements master data management solutions and manage metadata environments. Manages and maintains metadata standards and data rules. Manages and maintains “golden” records. Leads changes and revisions to master data, metadata, and data hierarchies and affiliations within fixed guidelines. Implements the integration of new data sources and metadata. Replicates and distributes master data. Distributes and delivers metadata. Queries, reports, and analyzes metadata. Educates team members on master data and metadata management processes, practices, policies, and guidelines.
Data Governance
Requires knowledge of: Data value chains; Data processes and practices; Regulatory and ethical requirements around data; Data modeling, storage, integration, and warehousing; Data value chains (identification, ingestion, processing, storage, analysis, and utilization); Data quality framework and metrics; Regulatory and ethical requirements around data privacy, security, storage, retention, and documentation; Business implications on data usage; Data Strategy’ Enterprise regulatory and ethical policies and strategies
To Establish, modify, and document data governance projects and recommendations. Implements data governance practices in partnership with business stakeholders and team members. Interprets company and regulatory policies on data. Educates team members on data governance processes, practices, policies, and guidelines. Provides recommendations on needed updates or inputs into data governance policies, practices, or guidelines.
Support various governance councils for master data, lead socialization with stakeholders, prepare information for discussion and facilitate decision making.
Data Strategy
Requires knowledge of : Understanding of business value and relevance of master data and data enabled insights / decisions; Appropriate application and understanding of data ecosystem including Data Management, Data Quality Standards and Data Governance, Accessibility, Storage and Scalability etc.; Understanding of the methods and applications that unlock the monetary value of data assets
To Understand, articulate, interpret, and apply the principles of the data defined strategy to unique, moderately complex business problems that may span one or more functions or domains.
Coordinates, completes, and oversees job-related activities and assignments by developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders; supporting plans and initiatives to meet customer and business needs; identifying and communicating goals and objectives; building accountability for and measuring progress in achieving results; identifying and addressing improvement opportunities; and demonstrating adaptability and promoting continuous learning.
Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by hiring and training; mentoring; assigning duties; providing recognition; and ensuring diversity awareness.
Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans; utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy; and providing direction and guidance on applying these in executing business processes and practices.
System Implementations
Knowledge of SAP and Oracle master data tools and Support various system implementations globally and own various steps including design, testing, validations, go live and hyper care. Ability to retrieve data from SAP, Oracle systems and other data bases including clouds sources.

The annual salary range for this position is $70,000.00-$130,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
