The Books shopping experiences team is responsible for helping millions of customers find books they love through innovative discovery CX and relevant content recommendations. We set audacious goals and are looking for people who can help us reach and exceed them. We are looking for an analytical, results-oriented, self-motivated, and customer-focused Business Intelligence Engineer to build critical data pipelines and analytics tools that will help us transform the way we engage with readers and help them find their next book.
The ideal candidate will have excellent statistical and analytical abilities, outstanding business acumen and judgment, intense curiosity and strong technical skills. They are a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, able to think big and be creative (while paying careful attention to detail), and enjoys working in a fast-paced dynamic environment. To be successful in this role, you should have broad skills in database design, be comfortable dealing with large and complex data sets, have experience building self-service dashboards and using visualization tools, while always applying analytical rigor to solve business problems.
Key job responsibilities
* Own the design, development, and maintenance of datasets, ongoing metrics, analyses and dashboards to drive key business decisions.
* Develop queries and visualizations for ad-hoc requests and projects, as well as ongoing reporting.
* Continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service support for customers.
* Use analytical and statistical rigor to identify performance gaps and opportunities for optimization.
* Provide input and recommendations on technical issues to data engineering and software engineering teams
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
– Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
– Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
– Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab
– Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift
– Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $89,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
