Senior Business Development Manager, AWS Strategic Industry, Pan-Amazon Strategic Initiatives – USA, WA, Seattle

Amazon

  • Full Time

DESCRIPTION

AWS Strategic Business Development (BD) is seeking a highly motivated BD professional to join the Pan-Amazon Strategic Initiatives team to focus on inventing and executing new products, services, and solutions with Amazon’s most strategic partners and customers. This role will work closely with Amazon senior management, cross business-unit (“Pan-Amazon”) BD teams, and Corporate Partnership Directors to develop unique partnership opportunities, finding the right intersection between our goals and partner capabilities. You will be part of a team that is responsible for creating and executing some of Amazon’s most complex and high impact partnerships. This includes managing relationships and negotiations for partnership deals which are unconventional in nature and which have long-term implications for Amazon. This position offers an unparalleled opportunity to leverage your ability to create first-of-their-kind initiatives and build cross functional relationships inside one of the world’s most innovative, customer-centric companies.

We are seeking an innovative, creative, analytical, technical and strategic thinker, who wants to build transformative partnerships to support our ongoing innovations and growth. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who enjoys solving complex problems, works effectively with cross-functional counterparts and thrives in a fast-paced setting that is constantly evolving. Proving you have high judgement, strong capabilities to earn trust, and are comfortable working in ambiguous, highly-visible situations is critical for this position. A proven track record as an entrepreneur, repeatedly building businesses and solutions from idea to execution and scale is a key indicator for success in this role.

The Pan-Amazon Strategic Initiatives (“PASI”) team accelerates net-new products, services, or solutions that span two or more Amazon business units, require long-term investment, have high strategic importance or value for Amazon, and the potential to be transformative for a broad set of customers.

The PASI team sits within SMGS and the AWS Industries team, which is committed to helping industry customers enable their digital transformation journeys. Our primary goal is to meet customers where they are in their cloud journey and work backwards from their industry specific needs to transform their business and their entire industry. Our team speaks the language of our industry customers, which means that we focus on business outcomes and industry use cases on behalf of our customers, whether that is how we build products and solutions, how we sell, how we deliver, or how we partner.

Looking for experienced leaders for this role. Depth with complex deals is a requirement. Experience seeing non-standard deals and projects from idea to execution is a must. The ability to “Earn Trust” with internal and external stakeholders at all levels (who will likely need to be convinced to partner and or contribute resources to a new opportunity that was not on their roadmap) is essential.

Key job responsibilities
– Identify, evaluate, negotiate, execute, and manage new strategic initiatives that support the objectives of AWS and Amazon and drive significant business impact.
– Earn trust and build strong internal relationships with leaders and counterparts across Amazon’s diverse set of businesses.
– Evaluate the economic and strategic costs and benefits of potential partnerships.
– Build internal support for new initiatives with keen focus on market opportunity, business potential, and overall strategic fit.
– Work with cross-functional teams including Product, Operations, Engineering, Legal, Finance, and senior management to execute initiatives.

A day in the life
New initiatives are sourced from a variety of internal stakeholders, and in most cases originate from the customer. The Pan-Amazon Strategic Initiatives team follows a 4-step process to validate the opportunity, build the business case, secure internal and external resources, and take the initiative to market.
