The Interaction and Human Factors team is looking for a software prototyper to help research and build the next generation of sensor-based human-computer interactions. We are an eclectic group with backgrounds in human factors research, controls, signal processing, rapid prototyping, and more. As a member of this team, you will sit at the boundary between prototyping, research, and production – often switching rapidly between exploratory research and product-focused development to enable interaction concepts to make the leap from prototype to product.
We will investigate new technologies, prototype concepts, build frameworks for benchmarking human performance, and drive technical development needed to bring ideas to life. You are self-motivated, an excellent problem solver, and a fast learner. You are quick to forge relationships and comfortable with change and ambiguity. You have strong leadership skills and are passionate about envisioning and advocating for magnificent, usable, and ethically designed human-computer interactions.
While not required, any of the following will make you more effective in this role:
Experience developing software for Augmented Reality (AR) or Virtual Reality (VR)
Experience working with human researchers to establish critical research tracks, interpret results, and apply learnings to technical development
Experience developing iOS, watchOS, or macOS applications
Proficiency in UI/UX design including sketches, wireframes, and concept development in collaboration with multi-functional partners
Experience crafting interactive prototypes or applications and iterating on ideas with designers, human researchers, and/or engineersStrong expertise in an application programming language such as Swift, C#, Objective-C, etc.Proficiency with scripting, data processing, data visualization and/or numerical analysis in Python, Ruby, or similar dynamically-typed languageAble to communicate clearly and collaborate with multi-functional teamsExcellent problem-solving and root cause analysis skillsBS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience
