Apple is seeking an enthusiastic electrical engineer for the Mac Engineering Team. As a part of the Mac team, you will help with concept and feature development, rapid prototyping, production part selection and product integration.
Our engineers rely on skills in computer system architecture, schematic design, digital and analog circuits, power and voltage regulator integration, high speed signal integrity concepts, PCB design, bring up and system level trouble-shooting to surprise and delight millions of customers.
The Hardware engineer will be a part of the Mac team. The candidate will design, implement, test, and debug the electrical subsystem, develop test and failure analysis procedures to ensure a high level of quality for the product. The candidate will be responsible for :
– Schematic design, component data-sheet analysis and selection; coordinate layout of highly constrained multilayer PCBs including HDI and fine pitch BGAs
– Drive design tradeoffs across manufacturing, test, thermal, performance, reliability, battery life, and electrical stakeholders
– Prototype bring-up, debug, functional verification, and electrical characterization using advanced lab tools such as 25 GHz oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and BERT scopes to judge the quality and robustness of electrical designs.
– Review designs of factory test fixtures, analyze factory-scale data to adjust signal parameters for maximum margin and ensure manufacturing test plans provide adequate coverage to ensure the design is assembled correctly
– Debug problems found in manufacturing, feedback root cause and corrective action into design or manufacturing process in preparation for high-volume
– Forecast and plan design time to meet constrained schedules, communicate and present status on concurrent top issues and timelines
– Travel to foreign contract manufacturer (estimate 5 weeks per year)
BS in electrical or computer engineering required, MS preferredExperience with schematic, PCB physical design using Cadence Concept and Allegro or similar CAD toolsDesign experience in digital logic, simulation, power conversion and delivery, high-speed serial and memory interfaces including signal integrity design and measurement fundamentals with oscilloscopes.
