Senior Wireless System and Algorithm Design Engineer – 200534280 -Cupertino, California, United States

Apple

Would you like to join Apple’s growing wireless silicon development team? Our wireless SOC organization is responsible for all aspects of wireless silicon development, taking care of challenges from the complex usages, more demanding performances, and reliabilities to enable emerging wireless applications and products. Our goal is to come-up with novel architectures and protocols, integrated systems and algorithms with employing the advanced technologies to introduce our innovative products, providing evolutions to our lives.

In this technical role, you will be at the center of a silicon design group, responsible for physical layer and cross layers algorithms designs for innovative wireless communication systems of newly emerging applications, demanding for low latency, very high data rate, high efficiency, reliabilities, and low power consumptions. You will be required to apply signal processing, communication and information theory, probability and random processes techniques to architect and design the different innovative algorithms for the receiver and transmitter.

In this role, you will be required to demonstrate strong analytical skills, innovative thinking, and fundamental knowledge to design the creative algorithms, innovative architectures and protocols, to resolve the challenges and issues and develop the best-in-class solutions in terms of performance, power, and area. You will also collaborate closely with HW digital designers and architects, RF/analog designers, and SW teams to define and specify the wireless systems.

Core responsibilities:
•Design and simulate innovative wireless communication system to enable emerging applications and wireless system products.
•Implement system models and investigate innovative algorithms for performance enhancements, design and validate them to allow performance sign-off and enable RTL development.
•Implement system models for the wireless communication system, RF/circuits impairments. Design method/algorithm to alleviate those impairments by calibration, pre-equalization, canceller, and/or pre-distortion techniques.
•Define the control procedures of the physical layer hardware modules to achieve robust and optimal performance of the Modem in congested radio environment with Co-Existing wireless communication systems.
•Work with digital designers to realize these methods with power and area efficient digital implementations.
•Work with firmware designers to realize these methods with high efficiency software implementation, and possibly with hardware acceleration.
•Bring up, test, characterize and optimize real silicon in lab.
