DESCRIPTION

The Sr. Financial Analyst – Subsidiary Controllership will be a key member of a small team driving the development and execution of programs, policies, and controls that promote the operational health of Amazon’s acquired subsidiaries. Partnering with our subsidiary businesses, the Sr. Financial Analyst identifies financial and operational risks, then works to mitigate those risks through improvements to services and technologies. By becoming a trusted partner, they will develop programs and processes that eliminate the need for policy exceptions and will help subsidiaries deliver on action plans that address risk in their finance operations. The Sr. Financial Analyst will encourage a culture of controllership and risk management through ongoing communication and education to subsidiary and Finance partners.

Key job responsibilities
– Assess risk in subsidiary finance transactional processes (order to cash, procure to pay, payroll, etc.), execute quarterly subsidiary controls and deliver a subsidiary risk assessment identifying areas of concern, trending issues, and program/policy recommendations.
– Understand the subsidiary business and its operational and strategic priorities, drive action and innovation to improve business processes and controls in a pragmatic, cost-effective way for fast-growing businesses.
– Identify and drive resolution of any control issues, share best practices, publish dashboards and follow up on completion of key controls tasks.
– Analyze defect root causes and propose remediation and mitigation strategies, monitor remediation actions and follow up on internal control findings.
– Drive subsidiary operational and controllership effectiveness through data. Build reporting that focuses on the right measures of financial and operational health; lead programs and projects that delivery continuous improvement to these measures.
– Work cross-functionally across Finance (e.g. Treasury, Accounting, Tax) to ensure ongoing regulatory and Amazon policy compliance by acquired subsidiaries. Drive improvements at the program and individual subsidiary level with operational teams and Finance leaders.
– Educate subsidiary and Amazon stakeholders on priority controls and policies.

About the team
The Finance Operations organization works with every part of Amazon providing the backbone systems and operational processes which enable Amazon to pay suppliers, invoice customers and report financial results. Through our services we drive financial and process improvements that deliver measurable value to the business and delight our global customers, vendors and employees.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

– 6+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience
– 6+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses experience
– 6+ years of identifying and implementing opportunities to resolve finance issues, improve, scale, or simplify finance tools, technology, and processes across teams and organizations experience
– 6+ years of building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making experience
– 6+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
– Bachelor’s degree

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

– 4+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
– 4+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience
– 4+ years of controllership or compliance experience
– Experience communicating results to senior leadership
– Experience in identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan
– MBA, or CPA

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
