A day in the life
As the Product Manager for the Kuiper satellite production, your primary focus is to ensure the data, reporting, and predictive insights are enabling the manufacturing teams to operate as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible. This involves a varied set of tasks and activities throughout the day, all centered around aligning the analytics capabilities with the needs of the broader Kuiper organization.

A significant portion of your time is spent collaborating cross-functionally with stakeholders from hardware, software, supply chain, operations, and other teams. This includes leading regular meetings to review the latest production metrics, identify areas for improvement, and align on the roadmap for new analytics features and tools. You serve as the bridge between the technical implementation and the business requirements, translating complex data and insights into actionable plans.

Maintaining a strong understanding of the satellite production lifecycle is critical, so you regularly engage with the manufacturing, software and engineering teams to stay up-to-date on the challenges they are facing and the data-driven solutions that could help address them. This may involve participating in user interviews, conducting regular site visits, or shadowing employees on the production line.

In addition to the cross-functional collaboration, a significant portion of your time is spent on product management activities. This includes reviewing the analytics backlog, prioritizing new feature requests, and working closely with the data engineering, business intelligence and software teams to ensure the development roadmap aligns with the strategic vision. You also play a key role in defining the technical specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria for our analytics platforms and tools.

Reporting and communication are crucial aspects of the role as well. You are responsible for regularly presenting updates on the analytics program to Kuiper’s leadership team, highlighting the key metrics, insights, and business impact. You also collaborate with the compliance and finance teams to ensure the solutions adhere to relevant regulations and cost optimization goals.

Throughout the day, you are continuously monitoring user feedback, identifying areas for improvement, and iterating on the analytics platform to maximize its value to the Kuiper organization. This requires a combination of technical expertise, business acumen, and strong products management skills to effectively balance the competing priorities and deliver solutions that drive real operational improvements and impact to business.
