The Amazon Transportation Services Supply Strategy and Optimization Management (SS&O) team is responsible for determining the amount, placement, and type of supply that the Amazon Middle Mile (NA) network needs to achieve the lowest cost network for weeks, months, and years ahead. We partner closely with research scientists, data scientists, software teams, analysts, product, and program managers of all levels to create a plan of record, benchmark, manage variability risks, improve tools and analytic approaches, and close execution gaps.
This role will give the candidate the ability to influence and drive organization level decisions by leading a team that will deliver across various levels of leadership in a highly complex, ambiguous, and impactful space. We are looking for Managers with a strong delivery record, strong analytical skills, people leadership, and proven project management experience to own strategic long term planning, tactical, and cross-functional and technology projects and programs within Amazon Transportation Services.

Key job responsibilities
As the Short Term Linehaul SS&O Senior Supply Chain Manager, this team member will specifically be responsible for partnering with key internal and external team stakeholders to determine the optimal network level demand execution plan. This is inclusive having the experience to complete the following:
• Analyze industry trends and evolving network level performance to proactively identify demand execution plan variation opportunities to minimize risk associated to the quarterly plan, protect continuity of supply, and utilize supply program developments that benefit the Amazon Linehaul business.
• Identify and pursue opportunities to leverage, create and or consolidate the network demand execution plan allocation using system level tools and techniques to ensure success with the quarter.
• Understand forecasting, demand planning, resource planning and operational processes to validate demand execution plan commitments.
• Manage network level demand execution plan and allocation to ensure speed and optimal on time customer delivery and build resiliency into the demand execution plan without driving excess churn
• Drive demand execution plan optimization improvement initiatives to continually lower liquidity risks and increase speed and improve customer facing on time delivery to ensure success with meeting the quarterly plan.
• Influence supply team stakeholders’ processes, technology decisions and policies to ensure there is a mutually beneficial continuous improvement and sustainable process for the overall Linehaul business
• Manage full lifecycle of complex cross-functional programs with considerable impact across multiple organizations
• Development of the overall network level strategy, tactically driving teams in and outside of the organization to deliver to the quarterly goals.
• Define the program (mission, vision, tenets), set objectives, analyze data and drive improvements that are quantified with metrics inclusive of planned vs actual network performance and impact analysis of product initiatives.
• Work autonomously in an ambiguous environment, seeking to understand business problems, automation limitations, scaling factors, boundary conditions and reasons behind leadership decisions
• Partner weekly with teams across the business you support and beyond to source, allocate, and coordinate resources needed to achieve the quarterly goals
• Partner with customers, internal/external teams, and engineering teams to determine what projects move forward and in what priority as a result of adherence to the quarterly goals.
• Oversee gaps between teams, processes and systems, helping teams reduce exposure to classic failure modes (e.g., requirements not sufficiently understood or documented, ineffective cross-team collaboration, long-term impact(s) from third-party solutions, security not considered, insufficient stakeholder review, etc.).
• Solve ambiguous problems and proactively identify and mitigate risks (before they become roadblocks).
• Work with program managers, business leaders and executive team to communicate the impact of critical business initiatives, and inputs impacting the quarterly goals.
• Develop, implement, and govern KPI reporting for a portfolio of programs, providing visibility to the milestones, and performance across all projects.
• Engage other Amazon business units globally to share best practices and improve end to end outcomes for Amazon customers.
• Create, communicate, and manage budget/timelines/entitlement for projects.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– Bachelor’s degree
– 3+ years of data analysis experience
– 5+ years of program or project management experience
– Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
– Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
– Experience in complex problem solving, and working in a tight schedule environment
– Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams
– Knowledge of Excel at an intermediate level (e.g., pivot tables & charts, multiple criteria lookups, nested logical/IF formulas, data cleansing, array formulas, etc.)
– Familiarity with SQL and building queries
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– Master’s degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field
– 3+ years of driving process improvements experience
– 5+ years of data analysis experience
– 8+ years of program or project management experience
– Knowledge of Excel at an advanced level (e.g., pivot tables & charts, multiple criteria lookups, nested logical/IF formulas, data cleansing, array formulas, etc.)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $103,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $181,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
