Are you an independent, innovative self-starter senior national security leader who is focused on driving executive engagements with senior government leaders, industry groups, and think tanks within the US Federal national security, defense, and federal civilian ecosystem? The role requires a team player who can focus on building and maintaining strong executive-level relationships with federal government stakeholders who are eager to enhance their digital transformation strategy and improve mission capabilities through use of Amazon Web Services. The ideal candidate will have a strong network, superior written and oral communication skills, and a proven track record in government relations and building enduring partnerships and business development pipelines and opportunities.

As a senior Global Executive Relations national security leader, you will have the exciting opportunity to drive the growth and shape the future of cloud, generative AI, and emerging technologies in one of our most critical segments. Your broad responsibilities will include developing and implementing government relations strategies to engage senior leadership across National Security, Defense, and Federal Civilian Government Agencies. In this role, you will also work closely with AWS’s internal teams, including legal, compliance, public policy, and public relations and business units, to align government relations strategies with business goals.

As a senior Global Executive Relations national security leader, you will promote AWS as a champion and leader within the Federal National Security, Defense, and Civilian market, and create thought leadership opportunities for AWS executives. You will identify and work to remove blockers to business; develop business winning strategies and proactive messaging to promote our customers’ successes in the cloud environments; and help establish AWS as the leader in cloud computing and generative AI technologies for the Federal government.

You will proactively drive strategic government relations through your extensive network and deep understanding of the national security, defense, and federal civilian environmental conditions, and industry. This includes determining the most effective go-to-market strategies, growing business development pipelines, and supporting business leaders and their respective teams to earn trust with Federal and industry executives.

You will also work closely with Amazon executives and the public policy team to facilitate high-level meetings between executives and key stakeholders, including regulatory and industry association and alliance partners to promote and advocate for equities on which Amazon Web Services has a position of interest.

Key job responsibilities
Basic qualifications
• Minimum of a Masters or Advanced Degree in Government, Security Studies, Machine Learning, International Relations, Business, Law, or a related field
• 10-15 years of national security, intelligence, defense, and diplomatic experience
• Expertise in national security, defense-related and AI research methodologies, geopolitical assessments, strategy development, and project management.
• Strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear and actionable insights for senior leadership.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to effectively collaborate cross-functionally
• Exceptional organizational abilities and attention to detail
• Exceptional verbal and written communications skills
• Data-driven, with the ability to form measurable initiatives, and communicate their business value to leadership
• Excellent research project management abilities.

Global Executive Relations Team Overview

The AWS Global Executive Relations (GER) team supports the AWS U.S. Federal and Worldwide Public Sector business units by developing targeted initiatives, programs, and strategic relationships with government officials, think tanks, and non-profits to earn trust, develop revenue pipelines, and to earn trust at the highest levels of government. The GER team is comprised of highly experienced professionals with decades of experience working in senior government and relevant industry positions. The ideal candidate for this role is a senior leader who will own the end-to-end management of GER’s work.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

– 5+ years of professional or military experience
– Bachelor’s degree
– 5+ years of developing, negotiating and executing business agreements experience
– Experience developing strategies that influence leadership decisions at the organizational level
– Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

– Experience interpreting data and making business recommendations
– Experience identifying, negotiating, and executing complex legal agreements
