We are looking for a for an outstanding business intelligence engineer to join our team in building and maintaining end-to-end data and analytics solutions that drive business insights. In this position, we are looking for a Sr. BI Engineer with experience in applying analytics to solve complex business problems. The ideal candidate has a demonstrable track record of success in driving business impact through application of analytics. As a BI Engineer, you will work closely with internal stakeholders to perform data analyses, develop complex SQL queries for ad-hoc requests and projects, define metrics through your deep understanding of the business and create self-service dashboards/reports to bring visibility into health of the business. You will exercise your technical skills in SQL, Python or other data analysis tools and visualization tools such as QuickSight in order to produce reports and build dashboards that are flexible and information-rich.

Key job responsibilities
– Provides robust BI solutions for complex problems, that are extensible and scalable.
– Understand high-level business objectives and continually align work with those objectives to meet needs of business
– Refine data strategies that cut across functional teams and make technical trade-off decisions for long term/short-term needs.
– Learn and understand a broad range of Amazon’s data resources and know how, when, and which to use and which not to use
– Support cross-functional teams on the day-to-day execution of projects and initiatives.
– Serve as liaison between the business and analytics team to achieve the goal of providing actionable insights into current business performance, and ad-hoc investigations to support future improvements or innovations. This will require data gathering and manipulation, problem solving, and communication of insights and recommendations.
– Drives best practices in operational excellence, data modelling, and analysis. Ensure that BI solutions are correctly and efficiently supporting the business.
– Write high quality code to retrieve and analyze data and build data visualizations to tell the story of business trends, patterns, and outliers through rich visualizations.
– Occasional travel to Mexico City for key business events will be required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

– 5+ years of professional or military experience
– 5+ years of SQL experience
– Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets
– Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.
– Experience building measures and metrics, and developing reporting solutions
– Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
– Bachelor’s Degree
– Proficiency in both English and Spanish (C1/ C2 Level)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

– Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership
– Experience using Cloud Storage and Computing technologies such as AWS Redshift, S3, Hadoop, etc.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $117,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $202,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
