The AWS Demand Planning team builds software to forecast the amount of hardware needed to keep EC2 running as the world’s favorite elastic cloud. Our work ensures that AWS customers never run out of cloud computing capacity! We are looking for a Software Engineer to work in a full-stack development role, with more of a focus on back-end work. Key job responsibilities
We are looking for Software Development Engineers obsessed with customer success, passionate about simplification and design-thinking and excited to dive deep into the growth opportunity of delivering new product categories to new customer types in an emerging technology space. The position represents a rare opportunity to be a part of a fast-growing business, and help shape the technology and product as we grow. Our technical challenges involve back-end software engineering, applied science, and front end development. We build software and information systems to process massive scale operational data, infer information relationship across complex systems, train decision models and apply them to critical operations at industrial scale.
As a Sr. developer on our team, you’ll own code end-to-end from design to development, and work closely with senior technical leaders within the team and across AWS. You’ll have a sound understanding of computer science fundamentals and practical industry experience, working across the stack with technology involving modern databases.
About the team
Our team owns a family of products that facilitate the generation, audit and publishing of Demand Plans that support the extensive AWS product portfolio. As a Senior SDE, you will collaborate with research scientists and business subject matter experts to build and maintain a scalable planning platform, along with innovative models, that is capable of handling billions of time series data in real time. Our tools span across Java, Python, JavaScript, Lambda, DynamoDB, and other leading-edge AWS services and tools.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
– 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
– 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
– Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
– Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
