Sr Technical Program Manager, Geospatial – USA, WA, Bellevue

Amazon

  • Full Time

DESCRIPTION

Are you interested in enabling high performance maps and navigation experiences that empower Amazon delivery drivers world-wide to deliver packages, groceries, and more to customer doorsteps? Are you interested in doing so by owning and coordinating projects end-to-end to solve hard problems to process petabytes of geospatial data to generate actionable insights that impact strategy and execution for driver facing maps and navigation workflows, and build massively scalable distributed systems to power the maps experience for drivers? Then this is the role for you!

As a member of the Last Mile Maps Experience team, you will be responsible for transforming the experience drivers have as they navigate to customer doorsteps. We support delivery programs such as Amazon Flex, a crowd-sourced delivery opportunity for independent contractors, and Amazon Logistics, a delivery service powered by small and medium sized businesses who deliver Amazon packages to customer doorsteps. As a technical program manager, you will be responsible for delivering complex projects end-to-end across multiple technology and operational teams. These projects will include initiatives such as rolling out new technology to new geographies as we expand, creating new technology to support new businesses and use cases, and building great technology platforms for experimentation, simulations and execution at Amazon scale.

You will drive the collection of business and systems requirements from internal and external customers, write specifications, drive project schedules from design to release, and manage production launches. You will lead and coordinate design/implementation efforts, coordinating across multiple teams to develop optimal solutions. You will be expected to make appropriate tradeoffs to optimize time-to-market, clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to cross-functional and remote project teams.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong program management background, will have demonstrated experience leading medium to large projects across multiple teams, and will have a well-rounded technical background in current web technologies. You must be able to take ambiguity or competing priorities head on and drive clarity to deliver solutions on time with high quality. The ability to take large, complex projects and break them down into manageable pieces, develop functional specifications, then deliver them in a successful and timely manner is expected. Maturity, high judgment, skills, ability to influence, analytical talent and leadership are essential to succeed in this role.
