ADC Engineer II, Mercury ADC Ops – USA, MD, Columbia

Amazon

  • Full Time

DESCRIPTION

Would you like to implement innovative cloud computing solutions and solve the world’s most complex technical problems? Do you have a deep passion and desire to engineer and operate the world’s largest cloud computing infrastructure to build a better world for future generations?

This is an exciting opportunity to use the latest cloud computing technologies to help U.S. Government agencies implement innovative cloud computing solutions and solve technical problems.

AWS established a specialized group of service teams responsible for the work we are doing with the U.S. Intelligence Community. We are building some of the largest and most complex distributed systems in the world, and we need adaptable people to help us implement and operate them.

The AWS Mercury ADC Ops team is seeking highly motivated engineers who are focused on operational excellence and troubleshooting complex system operations, have a good understanding of Linux, networking and general knowledge of cloud services. We need engineers who understand how to think big, and simplify solutions to complex problems; all the while ensuring that our customers continue to have the best experience possible.

You will be able to take a defined project, break down the work to help define milestones, and feedback mechanisms. You identify when implementations are not highly available or have defects; you investigate systemic patterns. You resolve, mitigate, or escalate operational concerns in a timely manner.

We are committed to supporting our new team members through a broad mix of Amazon experience, expertise, and tenures. We celebrate knowledge, sharing, and mentorship!

This position requires that the candidate selected must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph. The position further requires the candidate to opt into a commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.

AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

Key job responsibilities
The specific CP ADC Ops responsibilities for this role are:

– Support CP MVP on-call
– Identify and pursue opportunities for operational excellence and automation
– Respond to and resolve MVP customer issues
– Resolve operational tickets
– Support the execution of various campaigns (i.e., blocked software, host patching, etc) in the MVP regions on behalf of CP service teams
– Collaborate with CP service team engineers to build CP services in the MVP regions as part of CP’s effort to bring its stacks to commercial parity
– Support other parity program activities such as data migration, client migration, and cutover on behalf of CP service teams

A day in the life
On a “typical” day, our engineers may dive deep into customer issues, service interdependencies and region specific configurations to find the root of a problem. Engineers also need to be able to investigate why a metric or system variances is trending in the wrong direction, or discuss radical new approaches to automate operational processes. As a member of our team you will join a dedicated group of engineers who provide troubleshooting and operations support, and innovate to automate operational tasks.

About the team
The Mercury ADC Operations team supports customer sign up, bill computation, pricing, metering, discounts, cost insights, security, and fraud prevention services for AWS customers. The Mercury ADC Ops team is focused on enabling AWS as a whole the capability to build, interpret and process trillions of commerce events per day, often bundled with low-latency/real-time analysis to enable security and fraud detection..
