DESCRIPTION
The Customer eXperience Impressions team powers Amazon’s understanding of the retail shopping experience and drives customer experience improvements across the Supply Chain Optimization Technologies (SCOT) organization and beyond. As a Data Engineer, you will be operating in one of the world’s most complex data environments. You will be working with a cross-functional team to design, build, and maintain streaming and batch data applications to build datasets which influence millions of customers and sellers around the world. You will work directly with your data customers to collect requirements and provide guidance on their wide range of applications for your products. You’ll regularly work with AWS services like EMR, MSK, Glue, Redshift, Athena, S3, SNS, and SQS as you build new data products.

Key job responsibilities
– Own the end-to-end development of data solutions which impact millions of customers and sellers around the world.
– Build fault-tolerant and high-performing streaming and batch data pipelines using a wide range of technologies such as Apache Spark, Flink, Kakfa, and Airflow.
– Design logical data models which enable the delivery of extensible physical data models which can quickly change to adapt to an ever evolving customer experience.
– Implement ETL solutions leveraging a variety data sources using SQL, Scala, Spark, Flink, and AWS technologies.
– Continuously improve data quality and reduce operations through automation and CI/CD.
– Mentor junior engineers to improve their understanding of your domain and enhance their skills.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– 3+ years of data engineering experience
– 2+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
– Knowledge of distributed systems as it pertains to data storage and computing
– Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
– Experience working on and delivering end to end projects independently
– Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby
– Experience with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions
– Experience with non-relational databases / data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases)
– Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS
– Experience building large-scale, high-throughput, 24×7 data systems

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $205,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
