The WHS Worldwide Ergonomics and Safety Experience (WESE) team is seeking an experienced Sr. Program Manager to lead the Safety Sentiment and Leadership team vertical.

This role will lead a dynamic, global team that drives the strategic growth and success of employee programs and initiatives within the WESE Employee Safety Experience team. This includes working cross-functionally with operations, communications, human resources, legal, and regional WHS teams.

Key job responsibilities
The ideal candidate will work successfully in a fast-paced environment, have a strong safety background, demonstrate effective strategic planning and decision making, and be able to drive change by influencing others. The successful candidate will be detailed oriented, have experience in collaborating with business and field teams, be customer obsessed, and excel at interpreting multiple data points. This position requires an experienced, customer-obsessed leader capable of leading a team of managers to deliver results via cross organizational programs, working through ambiguity, forging cross-discipline relationships, and influencing senior leaders and executives.

• Manage a global team responsible for designing, developing, and implementing global safety leadership and sentiment programs aimed at driving safety ownership and safety climate maturity
• Drive the implementation of global strategy and expectations for safety leadership and sentiment that aligns with the business strategy
• Identify and address customer and business pain points by actively deep diving into data and operational processes, and by working with cross-functional teams
• Continually monitor the team organizational structure to best meet long-term business needs, and assess the team talent and bench strength for current and future business needs
• Provide strategic and tactical support to your team on individual programs, including hands-on support when needed to help drive on-time delivery of key milestones
• Evaluate, through the use of data, the effectiveness of global programs in order to continuously improve the strategic direction of the team
• Write effective Amazon documents and ensure high quality content for stakeholders
• Work backwards – demonstrate planning capability to execute on deliverables
• Provide effective communication to customers and stakeholders across regions
• Collect, analyze, and present data to drive decision making
• Anticipate bottlenecks and blockers, assess risks, mitigate issues, and troubleshoot, as needed

About the team
The WESE team is responsible for ensuring the success of global engagement and ergonomics safety programs at sites, including Customer Fulfillment, Sort Centers, and Amazon Logistics, and for improving the safety experience of Amazonians. The team is focused on the successful execution of new initiatives and projects at sites that will improve ergonomics and reduce risks to associates. The Employee Safety Experience pillar of the WESE team focuses on human behaviors to improve leaders’ capability to lead safety and to foster associate engagement. The team deep dives safety sentiment data at all levels and businesses globally to understand strengths and growth opportunities. Using human centered design principles, the team creates and simplifies mechanisms and tools for leaders to influence safety in the workplace.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

– 7+ years of team management experience
– Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, or equivalent degree
– 10+ years of experience in safety culture, engagement, employee sentiment, perception
– Experience leading programs and using data and metrics to determine improvements
– Experience prioritizing complex deliverables, understanding and discussing technical concepts, managing trade-offs, and running meetings with technical and business leaders
– Experience managing end-to-end global programs
– Data analytical and interpretation skills
– Verbal and written communication skills
– Experience thinking strategically and executing methodically with an eye for tactical details
– Experience working in a fast-paced environment where continuous innovation is desired
– Successful record of accomplishment working with other teams within a company, using a high degree of influence and a relationship-based approach to achieve results

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

– Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization
– Certified Safety Professional
– Certified Project Management Professional
– Master’s Degree/MBA
– Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization
– Ability to lead team members working in different regions and time zones

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $225,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
