Key job responsibilities
We are looking for a passionate, talented, and inventive Senior Research Scientist with a background in Machine Learning to help build industry-leading Speech and Language technology.

As a Senior Research Scientist at Amazon you will work with talented peers to develop novel algorithms and modelling techniques to drive the state of the art in speech synthesis.

Position Responsibilities:
* Participate in the design, development, evaluation, deployment and updating of data-driven models for Speech and Language applications.
* Participate in research activities including the application and evaluation of Speech and Language techniques for novel applications.
* Research and implement novel ML and statistical approaches to add value to the business.
* Mentor junior engineers and scientists.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

– 3+ years of investigating the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to business problems and products experience
– PhD, or Master’s degree and 4+ years of quantitative field research experience
– Experience communicating qualitative research methods and findings to non-qualitative researchers
– Experience with big data technologies such as AWS, Hadoop, Spark, Pig, Hive etc.
– Experience in standard machine-learning and statistical modeling tools and techniques (e.g. random forests, gradient-boosted regression, LASSO, logistic regression)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

– Experience converting research studies into tangible real-world changes
– Experience with discrete and continuous optimization methodologies and algorithms

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $143,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $247,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
