DESCRIPTION

Do you have hands-on experience in High Performance Computing (HPC) or High Throughput Computing (HTC)? Do you want to make a huge impact on a dynamic, fast moving business? You will work backwards from our customers’ desired business outcomes and HPC application and workflow requirements to design and build HPC systems on AWS. You will implement the best practices for running HPC applications on highly elastic and dynamically provisioned HPC infrastructures. You will also optimize performance and costs of customer’s HPC workflows by transforming legacy on-premises HPC systems into cloud-native compute environments systems that rely on AWS managed services.

This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.

Key job responsibilities
* Help clarify customer business outcomes during project discovery
* Provide expertise and guidance in HPC infrastructure, design, implementation, and optimization
* Build technical solutions that are secure, maintainable, scalable, reliable, performant, and cost-effective
* Identify and prepare metrics and reports for the internal team and for customers to delineate the value of their solution to the customer
* Identify, mitigate and communicate risks related to solution and service constraints by making technical trade-offs
* Participate in growing their team’s skills and help mentor internal and customer team members

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

– Bachelors Degree or higher degree in Computer Science, or related degree
– 3+ years of experience with one or more HPC job schedulers: SLURM, Grid Engine, LSF, PBS, Torque, HTCondor, Symphony, GRID Server and/or Windows HPC Pack
– Experience with scripting: bash, Python, or others
– Experience with version control and project tracking/collaboration tools like Git, Atlassian, etc.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

– MS or higher degree in Scientific Computing or related technical field
– AWS Certifications such as AWS Solution Architect Associate/Professional, DevOps Engineer Associate/Professional, or SysOps Associate, or equivalent knowledge background
– Currently active CompTIA Security+ or equivalent Industry Cybersecurity certification or ability to obtain the certification within 90 days from job start date
– Experience with Storage technologies architecting, deployment and tuning
– Familiarity with high-speed interconnects and MPI
– Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and Configuration-as-Code tools and frameworks like AWS CDK, Terraform, Ansible, Chef, etc.
– Basic knowledge of cybersecurity issues and concerns, including authentication and authorization

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $204,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
