DESCRIPTION
Workplace Health and Safety Technical Solutions Team is seeking a Global Principle Safety Systems Engineer. This role will drive strategic initiatives and business partnerships, across all business units globally. This leader will support the engineering vision and strategy to drive consistency in managing our safety risks across WW Operations. This role will functionally partner with all engineering and stakeholder teams to drive a systematic approach to address risk identification, mitigation, and management of safety risks through engineering solutions.
Key job responsibilities
• Lead key elements of the development and year on year execution of global safety engineering strategy, including defining strategic objectives, goals, and metrics as well as ensuring data driven approach to measuring performance
• Provided a systematic approach to technical project intake and management by creating mechanisms to rank and prioritize projects.
• Develop safety engineering systems and processes that drive a consistent and harmonized approach across BU’s and geographies
• Develop approaches to risk modeling and analysis for mechatronics and integrated systems.
• Work with WHS teams, technical engineering teams, operations to specify safety or other risk-related requirements for projects.
• Support complex risk programs where the organization or business problem and risks strategy are not defined, or where endemic problems surface.
• Engage in creative, out-of-the-box thinking about ways that mechatronics and safety systems and potential impacts, especially for unintentional risks they create.
• Make use of strong skills for building consensus and alignment on project safety goals, balancing the needs of the many stakeholders involved, including considerations on safety, , reliability, cost, and maintainability.
• In partnership with our stakeholders, investigate incidents or unexpected behavior with mechatronics in our buildings and develop concrete proposals to mitigate and prevent future incidents
• Contribute to developing and implementing safety engineering norms and procedures in ways that is scalable.
• Contribute to further building a safety culture that enables our technical engineering teams develop safe and compliant products, systems and solutions.
• Identify gaps/opportunities in processes, and organizations (e.g., workflows, risk assessments, controls, etc.) to enable high standards and consistency in application.
• Support the development of solutions that meet Amazon high standards for safety, risk reduction, customer satisfaction, efficiency, scalable, simplicity, and operational excellence
• Support technical review of Global Safety Engineering Standards and Specifications, along with subordinate documents (e.g. procedures) and processes (e.g. risk methodologies).
• Participate in legal team meetings, communicating and defending program, and organizational-level risk to business leaders, regulators and industry associations (where applicable).
• Partnering, maintain and leverage industry partnerships to support safety engineering programs.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
7+ years of program or project management experience
7+ years of cross functional project delivery experience
7+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience
7+ years of team management experience
Bachelor’s degree
Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree preferred in related safety engineering field
Experience participating on relevant standard development committees (i.e. ISO, IEC, Machinery Directive) and other industry groups
Six Sigma Black Belt, Lean manufacturing or process improvement certification/s

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $161,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $279,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
