AWS Specialist Solutions Architects (SSAs) are technologists with deep domain-specific expertise, able to address advanced concepts, and feature designs. As part of the AWS sales organization, SSAs work with customers who have complex challenges that require expert-level knowledge to solve. SSAs craft secure, scalable, and resilient technical architectures that address those challenges. AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. The AWS Global Support team interacts with leading companies and believes that world-class support is critical to customer success. AWS Support also partners with a global list of customers that are building mission-critical applications on top of AWS services.
The ideal candidate will possess customer facing skills that will allow them to represent Amazon well within a customer’s environment and drive discussions with personnel within the company, as well as a technical background that enables them to easily interact and give guidance to software developers, security teams and architects. He/she should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, security, and technical challenges.
This key position will require supporting North American customers across industries, with a special focus on the Financial Services sector. Experience with Financial Services customers is a plus. The position, as part of the AWS Global Sales team, will act as the primary security interface with AWS customers and will work closely with AWS Sales and Solutions Architect teams, and the AWS business development team. The candidate will be able to interpret the impacts of industry and regulatory changes, and track and report on industry trends. In addition to being customer obsessed, this candidate will work backwards from their customers to directly influence AWS service and product roadmaps to evolve features and products to meet the evolving needs of their customers and drive further industry enablement.
Key job responsibilities
– Apply your advanced technical expertise and experience in Security architecture and philosophy to unblock our customers’ largest and most critical business challenges.
– Help customers understand how they can integrate AWS security controls into their own control frameworks and recommending approaches to implement their controls on AWS.
– Work with customers to resolve complex security concerns and problems and achieve security, resilience and compliance outcomes on the AWS platform through deep dive discussions, strategic presentations/recommendations, and hands on demonstrations in the AWS environment
– Represent the voice of the customer; bring customer feedback to product teams to influence feature development and future product roadmap.
– Act as a thought leader, sharing best practices through forums such as AWS blogs, whitepapers, reference architectures and public-speaking events such as AWS Summit, AWS re:Invent, etc.
– Develop and support an AWS internal community of technical subject matter experts worldwide. Contribute with field enablement materials for the broader SA population, to help them understand how to integrate AWS solutions into customer architectures.
A day in the life
Meet with customers and their account managers and solution architects for the largest and most strategic customer accounts to discuss opportunities to transform their workloads with AWS. Discuss the same opportunities with supporting AWS service specialist teams, cloud economics and partner teams to fine tune architectures, solutions and migration strategies. Share updates on customer trends with the team and key stakeholders before celebrating with the extended team in a collaborative and hybrid working environment.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent
– Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences, including executive level stakeholders or clients
– 8+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
– Experience architecting security solutions, including data encryption, key management, and sensitive data discovery.
– Hands-on (development/implementation) experience with security technologies and advanced use case configuration.
– Domain-specific technical depth and analytical thinking.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– Knowledge of cloud architecture
– Experience architecting/operating solutions built on AWS
– Knowledge of AWS services, market segments, customer base and industry verticals

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $138,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $239,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
