DESCRIPTION
The Amazon Tax department is a fast-paced, team-focused and dynamic environment. Amazon is seeking a Tax Analyst to join our Federal Tax Reporting and Compliance team with experience in process improvements and data analytics to help deliver support surrounding US Federal income tax filings and the US Federal elements of Amazon’s worldwide tax provision.
This role will be part of a specialized team driving the delivery of solutions to standardize, optimize and transform tax processes that will scale as the business grows. You will help define the right models, tools and mechanisms necessary to address business opportunities, drive automation, improve controllership and earn trust across the tax organization. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated great attention to detail, a proven track record of building and improving complex financial models, effective written and verbal communication skills and a strong desire to continuously learn and invent. You must be a fast learner who can quickly understand Amazon’s data structure. You need to be analytical in decision-making with ability to drive issues to completion.
Key job responsibilities
• Perform hands-on data delivery, detailed data research and analysis of large-scale, complex financial data sets; investigate, troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data
• Collaborate with customer teams to identify opportunities for improving efficiency and controllership in current processes to eliminate manual efforts within the US Federal Tax Return and worldwide tax provision
• Drive process improvements and coordinate with the Tax Technology team to facilitate streamlining and automation
• Develop tax models for various tax calculations and review tools through the creation of end-to-end scalable processes by leveraging technology.
• Preparation and review of tax adjustments, audit-ready workpapers and federal tax returns for US reporting
• Stay up-to-date on tax law and organizational impact of those changes
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– Bachelor’s degree
– 1+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
– Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level
– Knowledge of at least one data-focused technology tool, such as Python, SQL, Alteryx, Amazon QuickSight, or similar
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– CPA and/or MST
– Experience with Oracle, Hyperion, and/or Essbase
– Experience with Corptax
– Program/Project Management experience
– Passion for process, data and efficiencies
– Strategic and big-picture thinker with a focus on results, tactical execution and relentlessly high standards

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $47,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $102,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
