Key job responsibilities
• Managing and developing Regional Safety Engineers, providing both technical and leadership expertise and ensuring highest levels of performance.
• Recruit talent for the AMER region.
• Create a positive partnership with regional operations Leadership and serve as point of contact and escalation for safety related matters.
• Work with partners such as legal and program teams to ensure compliance to Safety programs such as Lockout Tagout, Fall Protection, Fire Prevention, Emergency Procedures and Evacuation and other such programs for each DC.
• Lead a team to ensure compliance with company, global, regional and/or local Health and Safety standards.
• Support new region launch including initial site inspections, identifying accountability and site readiness review.
• Perform safety data analysis and create bench marking.
• Ensure proper record keeping and provide accurate reporting and metrics to support business safety initiatives.
• Support your team to develop and implement solutions to eliminate exposure to risks and prevent injury.
• Act as the representative for Unannounced Government and address any issues that may arise on a site level for that region
• Adapt to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, strategy and deadlines.
• Support the identify and implement of initiatives to reduce Health and Safety risks and improve team efficiency.

About the team
Join the world class safety culture at Amazon Web Services (AWS) and be part of supporting the largest cloud computing infrastructure team as a Regional Safety Manager. As the Regional Safety Manager, you will own the Health and Safety function of your respective area as well as supervise a team of safety engineers responsible for similar daily safety functions.
You will be responsible for improving the health and safety of our data centers, advancing safety culture, and protecting our employees. Each day you will work with our data center engineers, the people who make the cloud go. They are working with electrical switching equipment, large scale air handling mechanical systems, and critical IT gear.
You will work closely with experts in security, construction, operations, logistics, compliance, corporate counsel, and human resources to further the global health safety program. You will partner with employees as well as contractors to achieve health and safety goals and improve our already strong safety culture. You will work in a fast-paced environment where our operations are rapidly changing, advocating safe changes in the face of new infrastructure, new tools, and new products/processes.
This role is for a qualified and experienced Health and Safety Manager. The primary responsibilities of the role are to support the safety operations for Data Centers in the Dublin, Ohio Region and manage a team of Safety Engineers across the sub region. You will have managed a team of at least 4 individuals, over a period of at least 3 years. You will be able to demonstrate how you continued to improve performance of an existing team along with displaying skills in creating or growing a team of health and safety professionals. The candidate will also be knowledgeable in safety regulations in the United States as well as industry best practices related to hazard recognition and mitigation.
You will be part of a regional and global team that works with internal and external partners to maintain and enhance the safety of operations. Close collaboration with onsite physical security, vendors, compliance officers, risk management, and fire/life safety systems is required. Additionally, you will work with employees and contractors to achieve specific safety objectives.
You must be an effective communicator, sending clear, concise and consistent messages verbally, in written form, and/or public speaking forums. This individual will advise, instruct and train company safety professionals, as well as operations personnel on safety policies and procedures. You will also assist the teams in incorporating and improving our safety standards at their sites.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety or related field, or relevant work experience.
• 7+ years work experience in Health and Safety
• 3+ years managing direct reports
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Manage a team of safety professionals across diverse regulatory jurisdictions.
• Expert knowledge of Federal OSHA and safety fundamentals
• Masters Degree in Health and Safety or related field
• Experience in a fast paced, changing/growing organization
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with senior leaders
• Ability to develop and implement department goals and strategies
• Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability,.
