We are seeking a Principal Product Manager – Technical to join our team to lead the development of core capabilities in Foundational Models that enable the development of thousands of internal and external Generative AI Applications.

Key job responsibilities
You will be the voice of the customer and responsible for driving a product roadmap that enables Amazon customers and partners to extract maximum benefits from Amazon’s Foundation Models. You will have the responsibility of inventing on behalf of our customers and advocating for their needs throughout design, build, and launch. This position has a high level of visibility, so you will need to be able to communicate clearly and compellingly at all levels of the company. Additionally, you will be responsible for measuring business impact by diving deep into metrics and customer inputs. You should have a positive attitude and strong work ethic; you will work fast and smart, and adapt and iterate quickly.

In this position, you will play a pivotal role defining product requirements and go-to-market strategy. This role will require coordination across many internal and external teams and will be visible at the highest levels of the company. You’ll work with our customers, partners, software vendors, and operational stakeholders to prioritize roadmap features, and spearhead the definition of new FM capabilities through expertly crafted business requirements documents.


A day in the life
Given the scope and high level of ownership that product managers have in AGI, rarely are two days the same. You are a business owner, customer-facing representative for the service, and point of contact for partner teams. On a weekly basis, you will be working with customers to learn about the problems they are trying to solve, analyzing service and business metrics, writing PRFAQs, BRDs, and naming documents, iterating on product decisions with the Science and Engineering team, working with partners in solution architecture, legal, documentation, etc., thinking big to envision what is next, and exhibiting learn and be curious for different technologies, growth strategies, and market trends.



On a daily basis, you’ll have a chance to work with everyone who makes products at AGI successful, including senior leadership, engineers, business and sales experts, marketing, advocates, data scientists, content writers, and more. You will meet with customers to understand our core strengths and weaknesses. You will synthesize that feedback and other industry knowledge, with business and service data, to create strategies and test hypotheses. As someone central to the success of AGI, people will look to you on a regular basis to solve problems and connect them with specialists. To develop that expertise, you’ll constantly be looking to learn by reaching out to other experts within the company and in the larger tech community, using your own product by developing samples, demos, side-projects, and through mentorship, both as a mentor and mentee. Our customers are developers and technical decision makers, so you will be using code, technical documentation, and architecture diagrams to understand problems and communicate solutions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

– Bachelor’s degree
– Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
– Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
– Experience technical product management
– 7+ years of technical product or program management experience
– 6+ years of end to end product delivery experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

– Experience working directly with Engineers on product enhancements
– Experience in project management methodologies, business analysis, or process improvement

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $161,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $279,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
