We are looking for a highly-motivated Senior Software Engineer who understands distributed systems, and has a passion for solving algorithmically complex problems. In this role you thrive on building front and backend services and app and web tooling to compose highly personalized shopping journeys capable of scaling to billions of requests, and build products reaching thousands of developers chartered with building exceptional digital experiences for shoppers in dozens of countries, and in dozens of languages.

Key job responsibilities
As a senior software engineer on our team, you

* Build development infra and release orchestration systems capable of 100s of safe continuous deployments everyday
* Design and build services to power code-once, build and run-on-any-surface (iOS, Android, web browser)
* Collaborate closely with various mobile and web build and runtime teams to influence strategy and define the team’s road map.
* Spearhead best practices that enable a quality product, and help coach and develop junior engineers.

A successful candidate has an established background in engineering large scale distributed software systems. Experience in mobile development and developer experience and is passionate about making developers/builders successful in highly complex environments.

A day in the life
As a Senior Software Engineer, you build and own the systems that power visual development fulfilling the “what you see is what you get” tenant. You work with a team of world-class software developers who thrive on creating innovative, scalable solutions for mobile with real-time feedback. You are part of development efforts to build in diverse technology domains from command line interfaces to large-scale distributed software systems, using proprietary and open source technologies. You work directly with Amazon’s most tenured Principle Engineers on the vision, products, and integrations we need to achieve the future of shopping experiences.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

– 7+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
– 6+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
– 4+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
– Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

– Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
