SDE II – Amazon Maps Data, Geospatial – USA, WA, Bellevue

Amazon

  • Full Time

DESCRIPTION

The Maps Data and Tools organization curates maps related geospatial big datasets that represent the physical world at a fidelity that enables safe and efficient logistics operations in Last Mile (LM).

The organization builds bigdata pipelines powered by machine learning models that curate raw maps data from multiple heterogenous sources and transform them into data artifacts consumed in (i) planning of delivery routes, (ii) providing turn-by-turn navigation instructions, (iii) generating vector map tiles used to display the map on the Rabbit app, (iv) generate safety alerts for drivers (such as speeding, road incidents), and (v) defining jurisdictions of LM delivery stations. These bigdata pipelines are augmented with geospatial tools that empower manual data operations for (i) driver feedback/escalation resolution, (ii) semi-supervised data quality guard railing, and (iii) manual map-making where machines fall short.

We collaborate with scientists from the Geospatial Science (GSS) org to develop, scale and enhance (i) deep learning models that learn digitized maps data from ground truth sources such as satellite/aerial imagery, street side imagery, and GPS traces, and (ii) map conflation models that merge maps data from 16 different data sources that are both 1P (such as GRIN, Fleet Edge) and 3P (such as OSM, HERE, RMSI) in nature. We collaborate with program partners from the LM Analytics and Quality (LMAQ) org for driving efficient data quality operations and manual editing flywheels.

Our technology products can be functionally grouped into (i) In-Transit Data systems that curate maps data for enriching the driver’s in-transit experience (such as road network graph, real-time traffic), (ii) At-Stop Data systems that curate maps data for enriching the driver’s at-stop experience (such as building outline, complex address layouts), and (iii) Tools and Infrastructure systems that power ingestion, storage and manual data quality operations.
