DESCRIPTION
Amazon Publishing is seeking a data-driven, author- and reader-obsessed leader to fill the position of Business Analyst. The successful candidate will be thoughtful, analytical, and have a demonstrated ability to effectively influence the decisions of senior business leaders through clear verbal and written communication, analysis, logical reasoning, and the presentation of alternatives. While the area of focus is Marketing, a holistic understanding of our business drivers and the ability to synthesize them to deliver business recommendations are key. The role operates in a fast-paced, global, results-oriented environment, and provides decision support and advice for Amazon Publishing leaders.

Key job responsibilities
• Enable effective decision making by retrieving and aggregating data from multiple sources and compiling it into an automated and actionable format
• Partner with internal and external teams to create new metrics and methodologies to deep dive and measure the success of initiatives and programs
• Participate in strategic and tactical planning discussions
• Design, develop and maintain scaled, automated, user-friendly systems, reports, etc. that will support our business needs
• Strong SQL and data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders and leaders
• Identify areas of opportunity to automate and scale ad-hoc analyses
• Develop think big ideas to drive customer insights, engagement acquisition and retention
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
– 5+ years of Excel (including VBA, pivot tables, array functions, power pivots, etc.) and data visualization tools such as Tableau experience
– 3+ years of business or financial analysis experience
– Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
– Experience defining requirements and using data and metrics to draw business insights
– Experience with SQL
– Experience making business recommendations and influencing stakeholders
– Experience partnering with executive-level leaders to identifying and solving business issues
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– Bachelor’s degree in business or analytical discipline
– Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $66,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $143,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
