Are you excited about advancing the state of Threat Detection at scale to mitigate the risk from an ever-evolving threat landscape impacting a diverse range of businesses?
Amazon’s Threat Detection Services (TDS) team is looking for a highly motivated Threat Detection Engineer to join our Differentiated Threat Detection team. As a security engineer you will help define security strategy, identify threats across log data at exa-byte scale, and build threat detections to proactively mitigate unique threats targeting Amazon’s businesses.
We leverage our relationships across Threat Intelligence, Incident Response, and Red Team to proactively build a threat model of each business to deliver detections mitigating future risk posed by threats. Your expertise will be used to defend the data of Amazon’s millions of customers against the most critical threats.
Key job responsibilities
– Work with teams across Amazon to rapidly identify threats on Amazon’s network and build threat detections.
– Develop detection engineering strategies to improve the detection engineering lifecycle.
– Build innovative strategies to detect threats to Amazon businesses.
– Research and develop mitigations for new cybersecurity exploits, vulnerabilities, tactics, techniques and procedures.
– Develop platform requirements used to enrich alerts, and automate remediation and response actions.
– Provide tactical detection support during security incidents.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent
– Knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS and TCP/IP
– Experience applying threat modeling or other risk identification techniques or equivalent
– Experience writing SQL and any programming language such as Python, Ruby, or Go.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– Experience with AWS products and services
– Previous experience within a defensive security function identifying threats, investigating their presence, and converting learnings into detections (e.g., Threat Hunting, Incident Response, Detection Engineering)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
