The Delivery Experience Design team (DEX) drives the customer-facing global, digital delivery customer experience from pre-purchase to post-purchase for Amazon.com. Our designers, product managers, and researchers create zero-effort delivery experiences to benefit the millions of customers who shop on Amazon.com every day. We remove the complexity of delivery selection and order management from the customer experience by anticipating and meeting our customer’s needs each step of the way. And, we do this by beginning with research.

DEX UX Research is a small but mighty team that works across all DEX teams to understand human capabilities and limitations that influence our customers’ behaviors. We use both qualitative and quantitative data to inform our experiences and partner with stakeholders to develop measurable UX metrics that align with business goals and allow us to track our progress over time. Our stakeholders and leaders advocate for research and know that our insights affect the bottom-line.

We are seeking:
A strategic mixed-method, quantitative, or qualitative UX Researcher who wants to help build the research arm of DEX. You will use customer insights to inspire human-centered innovation for Amazon’s customers.

Key job responsibilities
– apply a broad scope of methodologies to your research
– collaborate with UX designers, Product Managers, and other UX researchers
– develop studies that support multiple research requests from multiple stakeholders
– design and execute high-impact, foundational studies that affect how our customers across the world perceive and interact with Amazon’s digital delivery experience.
– present data that informs the future of the delivery experience.
– conduct both discovery and strategic evaluative research
– coach and educate designers and product managers to execute tactical evaluative research
– partner with stakeholders to develop and/or inspect UX metrics that align with business goals
– track customer experience over time using UX metrics
– proactively learn new methods and metrics to stay abreast of research trends and best practices
– contribute to critical product and organizational strategy documents presenting customer insights

About the team
UX Research is a catalyst for human-centered innovation. Researchers develop a deep understanding of all customers using a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods.

Our stakeholders and leaders advocate for research and know that our insights affect business outcomes. We influence end-to-end customer journey by conducting research that uncovers the human capabilities and limitations that affect our Customers’ behaviors and attitudes. We develop high-impact studies that address multiple research requests and influence designs across the pre and post-purchase experience by working together to develop studies that address multiple research requests that align to critical business goals.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

– 7+ years of research
– Bachelor’s degree in Human-computer Interaction (HCI), Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, a related field, or 4+ years of additional experience
– Experience in a range of research methods such as qualitative and quantitative, attitudinal and behavioral, with deep expertise in your particular role (i.e., qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

– Experience contributing to the design of successful digital products and services, with a strong portfolio that illustrates how your research contributed to this success.
– Experience independently designing and running original research on digital products and services.
– Solid understanding of the design process and how research is appropriately integrated at each phase.
– Facility for uncovering root causes of good or bad research results for a given UI design
– Exceptional written, verbal, and visual communication skills; ability to distill complex ideas into concise and accurate narratives that enlighten and inspire.
– Ability to independently drive multiple concurrent projects in an agile environment.
– Strategic, business-building approach to UX research with a passion for translating data into bottom-line impact.
– Experience partnering with different kinds of stakeholders (Product, Engineering, Design, Business Intelligence, and others)
– Experience researching and developing experiences for global markets.
– Passion for understanding the latest learnings and innovations in behavioral science, research methods, and UX design and applying these to your work.
– Solid grasp of quantitative data analysis and inferential statistics.
– Graduate degree in Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Social Psychology, Human Factors, Human Computer Interaction, Behavioral Economics, or a related field.
– Vendor management a plus
– Experience in the utilization of behavioral data and the design and analysis of A-B tests a plus.
– Skill in use of data analysis, data visualization, and knowledge management tools a plus (e.g., Tableau).
– Vendor management experience is a plus
– Certification in UX Research is a plus

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $137,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $226,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
