AWS Communications is looking for an experienced PR professional to join its Customer & Industries team. AWS powers many of the world’s leading automotive and manufacturing companies, such as BMW, Toyota, Nissan, Siemens, John Deere, Lockheed, and many others. We are seeking an exceptional candidate who will be responsible for managing high-impact, integrated media relations campaigns that showcase how leading automakers and manufacturers are innovating with AWS. Experience in one or both of these industries is desired, but not necessarily required. The person in this role will also take on additional projects and responsibilities as needed to contribute to the success of AWS Communications.
A successful candidate for this role will have in-depth media relations expertise to secure top tier business, technology, and trade press opportunities. They will know how to develop influential stories from beginning to end, how to execute press programs for AWS at industry events, have experience cultivating relationships with traditional and non-traditional influencers, and excel at working with customers to develop mutually beneficial communications plans. This position requires an understanding of the intersection of technology and industries to execute creative PR plans with high-impact results. The person in this role will work across multiple teams and be comfortable navigating ambiguity, competing priorities, and a highly matrixed organization.
Key job responsibilities
– Creating and executing proactive, creative, and integrated PR campaigns that support a pioneering technology business
– Developing media strategies that align resources and create a cadence of press opportunities that elevate the AWS story with reporters
– Handling complex, fast-moving, and unexpected communications challenges with high judgment and professionalism
– Managing relationships with reporters and influencers across business, technology, and the industry outlets
– Cultivating and maximizing relationships with customers, including business leaders, technologists, and PR teams
– Developing stories with customers and partners about their journey to the cloud and use of AWS services, including AI/ML, data analytics, and industry-specific solutions
– Crafting compelling story ideas, content, and messaging
– Leading media programs for AWS-owned and industry/customer/partner events
– Maximizing PR agency resources and results

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– 7+ years of recent professional communications or public relations experience
– Bachelor’s degree
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– A successful track record leading PR or Marketing Communications in the automotive and/or manufacturing space
– Outstanding attention to detail and ability to communicate complex topics effectively
– Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment and willingness to roll up sleeves to get the job done
– An entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to roll up their sleeves to get the job done
– Creativity and bias for action
– Excellent written and oral communications skills
– Strategic thinking, analytical and organizational skills, and excellence in tactical execution
– Good judgement, a knack for diplomacy, experience with communications project management
– Confidence to engage and build consensus with multiple stakeholder and functional leaders at various levels

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $188,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
