Key job responsibilities
* Establish and articulate a clear technical vision for personalized shopping experiences, focusing on efficiency and seamless progression through the shopping funnel.
* Design systems capable of delivering personalized experiences to millions of users in real-time, especially during high-traffic periods.
* Utilize cutting-edge AI and machine learning technologies, including Gen AI, to create and deploy personalized shopping experiences that dynamically adapt to user behaviors and preferences.
* Oversee and collaborate with multiple engineering teams to design and implement personalized content delivery systems, supporting a culture of innovation and excellence.
* Continuously improve the shopping journey by integrating personalized recommendations and contextual content, ensuring a seamless and engaging user experience.
* Partner closely with product managers, designers, scientists, and other stakeholders to ensure cohesive and unified personalized shopping experiences.
* Implement robust data pipelines and leverage real-time analytics to drive personalization strategies, making informed decisions based on user behavior and feedback.
* Ensure rigorous testing, code reviews, and quality assurance practices are in place to maintain high standards of software quality and reliability.
* Mentor and lead a diverse team of engineers and AI specialists, supporting professional growth and development.

As a Sr. Software Development Engineer in the Discovery Innovation team in Personalization, you will drive the technical vision and strategy for personalized shopping experiences, utilizing innovative AI technologies to understand each customer’s shopping intent and deliver personalized experiences to millions of customers around the world. You will lead the design of multiple shopping experiences across different teams to personalize content dynamically based on user interactions, preferences, and contextual data, enabling customers to seamlessly progress through the shopping journey.
We leverage a combination of innovative Gen AI technologies and scalable architectures to personalize content in real time, ensuring low latency and high availability. Discovery Innovation represents a highly visible charter and supports multiple S-Team level goals across the Amazon store. The Discover Innovation team is dedicated to assisting customers in fulfilling their shopping mission and empowering other Amazon teams by leveraging our deep understanding of customer intent. Our team’s mission is to delight customers by helping them discover the right content at the right time, tailoring the shopping experience to the customer’s intent and unique shopping preferences. We are a team of dedicated Scientists and Engineers working together to deliver new, personalized shopping experiences. In tailoring the shopping experience to each customer’s intent, we envision operating seamlessly across Amazon as a talented personal shopping assistant — a partner that is trusted, knowledgeable, and understands your unique preferences.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
– 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
– 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
– Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
– Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
