DESCRIPTION
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
Do you possess a strong technical documentation background coupled with a passion for creating exceptional content? Are you eager to take on the challenge of supporting Amazon’s position as the leading innovator in cloud computing and web services technology? This role presents an exciting opportunity to collaborate with a stellar technical team, contributing to UI development and product documentation efforts within a cross-functional, distributed environment.
AWS Elemental MediaConnect (MediaConnect), an AWS service focused on transporting video content into the cloud, securely transmitting it for distribution, and replicating it for global distribution, is looking for a Technical Writer to produce high-quality technical publications for the service.
AWS Elemental’s live video encoding and distribution services are major players in the live video streaming industry. Every day, content providers and broadcasters use our services to get live video events from the camera to the televisions and devices of millions of viewers around the world. Our customers demand product documentation that ensures they can get the job done. The AWS Elemental technical writers play a key role in ensuring the best possible user experience via complete and detailed content in Console help panels, and user and API guides.
To succeed as the Technical Writer for MediaConnect, you must have strong experience writing scenario-based, JTBD technical content. You must have an aptitude for writing clearly about rich, complex software, and for describing intricate workflows. You must be an outspoken advocate for the customer and continually anticipate user assumptions and expectations. You must be prepared to set documentation priorities in a demanding role.
You will have access to a formal mentor program so you can find a mentor who works best for you, based on factors such as location, job family, and job level. In addition to formal mentors, you will work and train with colleagues who are always learning from one another and supporting the career progression of each other.
Here at AWS, you will be part of a team that embraces and learns from our similarities as well as our differences. We are committed to furthering our culture of inclusion, and we welcome teammates from an array of backgrounds and life experiences. We offer the opportunity to belong, connect, and contribute as members of a growing number of active affinity groups and employee resource groups. We host annual and ongoing learning experiences that cover a variety of inclusion and diversity issues, such as our Conversations on Race and Ethnicity (CORE) and AmazeCon (gender diversity) conferences.
This position is open to candidates in Portland, OR. Candidates near other AWS offices may also be considered.
