The ideal candidate for this role will have a strong background in software development, with expertise in areas such as system design, data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles. Key job responsibilities
– Designing, developing, and maintaining complex software systems that power Amazon’s products and services.
– Architecting and implementing robust, scalable, and efficient software solutions.
– Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers, to deliver high-quality software.
– Continuously improving coding practices, testing methodologies, and development processes.
– Staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
– Mentoring and providing guidance to more junior engineers.
– Participating in the overall direction and vision of the engineering team and organization.
A day in the life
As a Software Development Engineer, you will contribute to all aspects of the software development lifecycle including building an architectural vision and roadmap, advocating for our candidates, clarifying requirements, applying design patterns, development, documentation, testing, and continuously improving our operations. You will leverage Amazon’s industry leading technologies to build systems at scale. You will use your strong verbal and written communication skills, to mentor engineers on the team, partner with Product Managers, and promote the operational excellence of the systems we operate.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
– 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
– Experience programming with at least one software programming language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
– Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
