DESCRIPTION

Amazon is seeking a Managing Editor who is passionate about technology, innovation, and the customer experience. This is an opportunity to join the high-performing team behind Amazon’s new generative AI-powered shopping assistant, Rufus. Rufus makes it easy for customers to find and discover products to meet their unique needs by helping with product research, providing comparisons and recommendations, answering specific product questions, and more.

The Managing Editor will be responsible for a team of writers and annotators using prompt generation and Instructional Fine Tuning to improve the fluency of our AI models. They will uphold and contribute to quality, style, and tone guidelines, while using customer feedback to continually improve Amazon’s ability to be helpful to customers. Cross-functional partnership will be key, as this team works across Product, Science, and Design teams to evaluate CX metrics, develop scalable reporting systems, and ensure continual model improvements.

This role requires exceptional written and oral communication skills, excellent judgment, strong interpersonal skills, deep curiosity about how things work, and a passion for serving customers. You must enjoy context-switching and partnering at all levels of the organization to deliver results. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or comparable fields
* 5+ years of copywriting, UX writing, and/or editing experience
* Experience managing teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Experience working cross-functionally to drive product improvements
* Working knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style
* Experience writing and editing for a consumer audience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $128,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
